Cortado cafe was born from a vision to serve the best coffee in the most inviting place. Cortado in Spanish means “ to cut” or “ cut in half”; it comes from Spain where the origins of “kahwa” or coffee, had traveled all the way from the Arabian peninsula. Our desire is that at Cortado cafe, you will come to find equal parts, great coffee and a great community. We want to offer a unique coffee house environment unlike any other in Alexandria. We look forward to seeing you at Cortado Cafe – a place where you can savor the coffee and appreciate the community.

Cortado Café, located in Shoppes of Foxchase in Alexandria, offers a charming, cozy, and clean environment with excellent, well-priced coffee and delicious options such as crepes, paninis, and breakfast items. The service is quick and friendly, with generous portions in a welcoming atmosphere, making it a beloved local spot for coffee, crepes, and more. They bake fresh pastries each morning, including Danish and muffins, which is a big plus.
We enjoyed our breakfast here and highly recommend the following dishes.
– Their specialty coffee, like Dulce de Leche, was incredible—perfect for satisfying morning caffeine needs and sweet cravings.
– The Norwegian Crepe featured a moist, perfectly cooked crepe—not hard or dry—with smoked salmon, capers, and dill cream cheese inside, topped with bell tomatoes and pickled onion. It’s a healthy yet hearty option that isn’t heavy.
– Banh Mi Chicken Crepe was the highlight—very unique and different, made with marinated pulled chicken, fresh vegetable salad, and avocado aioli, resembling a Vietnamese banh mi sandwich but in a crepe with a kick. So yummy!
– French Toast with pistachio cream was also excellent—moist in the center, topped with sweet pistachio cream and knafe bits, adding sweetness and crunch.

The crepe was sooo good the first time I ate here, I returned a week later to have lunch. I ordered the exact same thing I ate during my first visit, and I must say the crepes are inconsistent. This time the ingredients inside the crepe were not good — the shredded chicken was really dry and it was spiced too salty. The good news is the Mocha was on point both visits. Overall good place but I know to choose my food carefully here.

My favorite local coffee shop and I don’t even drink coffee but my friends do and they say it’s great. It’s hey have some amazing crepes and salads. If you like avocado toast, I highly recommend that too. Always clean and staff is professional and friendly.

Consistency, consistency they do have. Always great food, service is friendly and welcoming. Would recommend to anyone looking. The Benedict’s are great, crepes are very nice, egg sandwiches are a simple choice, avocado toast is as well and the Cortado sandwich is appetizing also.

Will definitely come back again!!! I loved every second during my visit. A very cute aesthetic and warm place. My husband and i were met by smiles from the entrance and our server Maydee was great and very cheerful! Overall this place is a hidden gem the food and coffees were great and don’t get me started on the creps. I can’t waaait for my next visit….
