Great place to stop and eat while exploring Skyline Drive. There was a wait to be seated but they did give us the option to sit in another dining room. We declined because we wanted to sit in the dining room with the view. We waited about 30 minutes but it wasnt too bad. We got lucky and got a table directly beside the window. We really appreciated the view! We ordered the wings and brussel sprouts for an appetizer. They were really good! My son and I got the Forrester Pasta with chicken. We really enjoyed it. I added a salad. It was really fresh with a nice variety of veggies! My husband got the Roasted Half Chicken with mashed potatoes and asparagus. He didn’t love his meal. The portion of the sides were small and he said the chicken was not well seasoned. My youngest son got the burger. It was a good size for a kid meal. He loved the fries that came with it. Our boys ordered dessert, too! The Creme Brulee Cheesecake and Flourless Chocolate Torte were both delicious! Our server was very attentive and sweet. She went out of her way to take some wonderful pictures for our family to remember our experience. We will definitely dine here again!

Tasty lunch quick bites with a wonderful view is a great combination. The service Abigail provided was top-notch. She made sure that our 4-legged friend was comfortable and made sure that our food came out right. Dinner service was also wonderful especially during sunset.

We dined here several times during our stay, and overall, Pollock Dining Room delivers a solid experience—especially considering it’s inside a national park lodge. The food quality is surprisingly good, though prices are as high as you’d expect in a remote location like this. Wait times can be long: about 30 minutes to get seated and another 20 before food arrives, so be prepared to relax and take in the views.

Dinner here shines more than breakfast. The ribeye steak was well-cooked and juicy, paired with velvety mashed potatoes and perfectly tender broccolini. The Forest Pasta with grilled chicken was another standout—rich, flavorful, and not dry at all. The pimento cheese dip came with warm, soft pretzel bites that were addictive. For dessert, the vanilla ice cream and mango sorbet were both refreshing and creamy—truly satisfying.

Breakfast, on the other hand, felt less impressive. Portions are a bit on the smaller side and the offerings are fairly standard, nothing particularly memorable.

The dining room itself has a warm, rustic charm, with large windows that frame beautiful mountain views. During dinner, you can sometimes catch live music or spot the twinkling lights from Luray far below at dusk, adding to the ambiance.

We have driven Skyline Drive three times and we make sure to stop every time to have dinner at the Skyland Lodge. The food is EXCELLENT! So cozy and homey with an amazing view of you sit by the windows! My fiancé eats here specifically for the pork shank which is consistently delicious!! To finish off your meal you HAVE TO HAVE THE BLACKBERRY COBBLER WITH THE BLACKBERRY ICE CREAM!! It will be one of the most amazing desserts you’ll ever have!

My date and I dined here four times and scored a window seat 3/4. The food was delicious and the portion was generous. Dinner was too much for us to finish, we settled for an entree and a soup the second time we dined here. Definitely go here if you’re in Skyland, very convenient location. They had nightly life music in the tap room. The atmosphere was quite merry and chill.

My husband’s steak was almost raw, they tried to correct the issue and replaced the steak with a worse cut and the next one was a little overdone but edible. His drink the cherry whiskey drink was sickly sweet. I had a wonderful experience which is why it’s 3 stars and not lower. The half chicken was delicious, the blackberry wine went well with it (a little sweeter than I usually drink but it was tasty), my husband and I both enjoyed the flourless chocolate tort. For the price I wouldn’t go back. There are plenty of options outside of the park that offer better quality food at similar or less prices.

The view is great. The portions are large. The rainbow trout was very good. Venison stroganoff sounded good but lacked flavor. Disappointed in the Brunswick Stew that was served meatless. The other person on our party only had 2 small pieces of sausage in their stew. The root vegetable stew was good. The wings were very tasty. The sirloin was on the tough side despite being quite rare.

This is a very unique dining experience. The portions are bigger than what is needed but the price is also higher so it makes sense to some degree.
The food has great flavors and is delicious. The staff in the restaurant is great and very helpful.
I really enjoyed the Turkey Dinner.

Overall, we had an excellent evening at the Pollock Dining Room.

The restaurant is located at The Skyland lodge which is within the national park itself. About a 30 minute drive from Luray, into the park. As a bonus, we caught the sunset on the way to the restaurant which was breathtaking to say the least.

In terms of the restaurant, there is a larger dining room which has large open windows to allow patrons to take in the spectacular views, facing the sunset. A smaller dining room adjacent to that is where we sat which does not provide access to the views. There is an outdoor seating area as well, but was a bit too chilly for that.

I wouldn’t say you are coming to this restaurant just for the food. It’s for the overall experience. That being said we enjoyed our meals, especially the blackberry cobbler for dessert. A bit on the expensive side as well, but again you are paying for the ambience.

The service was friendly and the food came out much faster than I was anticipating which was a pleasant surprise.

We had live music as well, a pleasant added bonus.

The restaurant does not take reservations which was a bit frustrating but understandable. Knowing this I did try to call the hotel ahead of time to get a gauge on the wait, but I was not able to reach anyone after multiple calls.

Just make sure you plan ahead and come early to get a table because again, it’s located within the park itself and is about a 30 minute drive from any other restaurants (closest probably being Luray).
