Me and my wife ate dinner at La Cocina last Saturday. Not super busy so we were seated almost immediately. I ordered the flats while my wife ordered the Pollo en salsa de mole. My flats were ‘meh’. Food was hot, beans were OK, rice was typical Mexican rice. I got a side of guacamole to help flavor the flats as they were a bit bland. 3 stars. My wife loves their mole. 5 stars. We ate it because we were hungry. Overall not too bad.

What can I say? It’s totally Tex-Mex food, because I couldn’t find anything Mexican or Ecuadorian about it. The service was bad; we had to call them several times to get anything. The food, damn… some tacos were ice cold and smelled and tasted like tuna (it was supposed to be beef). The coffee was delicious, but also cold. The carne asada (a very small piece of meat) was soft but tasteless. Oh, and the soda tasted strongly of a machine. I don’t know, it left a really bad taste in my mouth because the place is really expensive for such poor quality food.

Oh, what they did make delicious was the “El Yucateco” habanero sauce (sarcasm)

I read many mixed reviews here about this restaurant before deciding to take the chance and try it and I’m so.glad I did! We came in around 5 the restaurant was pretty empty. The restaurant is pretty big and spacious with tables a good distance apart which I love. Our waitress was wonderfu, so soft spoken and sweet! She brought out a good amount of chips and salsa and it didn’t take too long to get our meals. The portions were very generous and food was all hot and delicious!! Birria tacos were great! The lettuce on my plate was wilted and definitely not fresh but the rest was great! Would definitely eat here again.

The first thing I notice walking in is how vibrant the decor is. There are hand painted murals on the walls and so much color. It’s so welcoming and charming. Chips and salsa are always a solid win. The lunch menu is fantastic. I ordered a tamale and rice and my goodness. It was good and I left stuffed! Would definitely recommend if you’re considering just go in and try the food! It’s good!

La Cocina js a cozy, family run restaurant with ample seating and basic Mexican fare. It’s not the most flavorful and many items are similar to one another but this restaurant is CONSISTENT. You know what you’re getting if you eat here regularly. Generally I order the carne asada- I like to order it rare otherwise it’s always cooked well done and just ruins the texture of the meat. Asada tacos are good, chicken taquitos are delicious, and we love their chips and salsa. Generally service is good but just like any other restaurant it depends on who’s working. If you’re looking for incredible, authentic, flavorful food this isn’t the place. Consistent, delicious, Mexican cuisine- yes. It’s Montana, not California.

Very happy with our dinner here! The entrance looks a little dark and unassuming but when you walk into the restaurant there is plenty of color and music. We were sat quickly and within a minute we had a generous basket of chips and salsa. There are lots of yummy things to choose from on the menu. I had the trio of the taco, tamale, and enchilada with shredded beef. Everything was so flavorful and delicious. My hubby had the carnitas in which he loved. The churros and horchata was also very good. I was happy with the price and the service was excellent. The only odd thing was that the server brought our bill and we were barely halfway through our meal and we hadn’t had a chance to order dessert yet. But it wasn’t that big of a deal. We would absolutely come here again.

I love coming here! I live in a town 1.5 hrs away and we will take a day trip into great falls just to come to this restaurant! I love the chips and salsa, mole enchiladas, carne asada, and the sangria! The service is always great and quick. Thank you for being such a consistently good choice!

The wait staff were friendly and kind. I ordered the lunch special of chicken fajitas and was able to eat one corn tortilla with some chicken in it. I was very hungry and dearly wanted to eat the rice and beans and more chicken but the food was rather tasteless and was and just not fresh- it did not seem to have been prepared with fresh, quality ingredients in the moment (or even that day) and/or by someone who enjoyed food preparation or eating….I do not enjoy leaving negative feedback -but I ended up leaving 3/4 of my plate untouched on the table- something I never do. The chips and salsa brought out beforehand were also lacking in that the salsa did not seem at all fresh……you can easily see when tomatoes and onions have seen better days. I paid full price and was offered apologies by the very kind waitress and the cashier. I would not recommend this place if you are looking for fresh, quality food….sorry to be harsh…..perhaps it was just the day- Monday the 22nd of December around 1:30.
