The margarita was delicious and inexpensive. I look forward to trying several more things on their menu.
They are located on Lockhart’s main square and there is free street parking on surrounding blocks.
What we didn’t know was that every order also comes with a complimentary side of Pico the resident drink support dog. Immediate obsession.
Got home and was instantly put on trial by Lola and the other dog in the house Devon who did not approve of the off premises dog interactions. Worth it.
Great vibes great people elite dog situation.
Four paws zero regrets would absolutely go again
First, I gotta say that the ambiance is really cute. It’s decorated like a desert style joint, reminiscent of many New Mexico venues we have experienced while road tripping. There are standing tables, booths and chairs, and there’s also a patio for those who enjoy their drinks and bites outdoors.
Speaking of drinks and bites, the menu, while simple, has options for pretty much all (or most) diet types. Drinks with and without alcohol, various delicious chips and dips, and bites like quesadillas, are available to order. My husband had a margarita while I got a virgin drink called the Rebecca. We had the chips with pepitas and also shared a mushroom quesadilla with pickled vegetables on the side. Everything tasted great! Nothing was out of place. The dip was amazing, and so was the cheese in the quesadilla. Prices were also fair, neither too high or too low, just right. Goldilocks would have been pleased!
The owner, Austin, explained that in order to keep his drinks consistent, he prepares weekly at the cantina very specific pre-mixed refrigerated recipes that baristas can easily use without deviating from the established norm and quality. He wants his patrons to always have a good experience and never have to worry about getting a bad drink. All ingredients are also fresh, and the little kitchen in the back seemed clean and tidy.
We’re really happy to see Lockhart’s downtown square flourish. We hope this cantina will shoot up in popularity so we too can keep enjoying its offerings!
