Atmosphere clean spotless! Service went here because in case you didn’t know this is the original Big John #1 and heard the guys that ran this spot were the best in town and they were not lying made my sub perfectly. I will definitely be returning and thank them for the awesome food.

I drove over 10 miles from northwest Mt. Morris because the hours online clearly state this location closes at 10:00 PM. I arrived at 8:50 PM — the OPEN sign was still on — but the door was locked. The employee inside, a man around 20–30 years old, mouthed “we’re closed” and waved me away with an unprofessional hand gesture.
I double-checked my phone to make sure I was at the right location and confirmed the hours listed online: open until 10:00 PM. Frustrated, I called to politely let them know the online hours might need to be corrected so customers aren’t misled. The person who answered was extremely rude — when asked why they closed early, their response was, “Because we want to,” before hanging up.
I called again the next day during normal business hours to speak with a manager. The person who answered the phone immediately said “HANG ON!” and placed me on hold for nearly five minutes before I finally gave up and hung up myself.
This level of disrespect and disregard for customers is completely unacceptable. Between the false advertising of business hours, rude employees, and total lack of professionalism, it’s clear this location has no concern for customer experience.
I truly hate to give up on Big John’s — I’ve always loved your sandwiches — but this particular location has lost my business. I want to point out that the Davison location has always been excellent, with friendly staff and great service. Whatever management team runs Dort Hwy could learn a lot from them.
I hope corporate takes this seriously, because this experience does not represent the Big John’s brand I’ve always supported.

Their Cornbeef Rubens are amazingly delicious they are loaded with meat, sauerkraut, with melting cheese and thousands island dressing. OMG I love when this seasonal favorite comes on the menu. This location fixes the best sandwiches and has the fastest service with great customer service.

We always go out of our way to eat here if we are anywhere near Flint. I have always given 5 stars for service in the past. Unfortunately, last Friday, there were a couple of mistakes. It seemed the gal was new. I hope the more seasoned staff will help her out. We LOVE these sandwiches! I wish Mt.Pleasant still had a Big John Steak House!

Got a 16″ Philly Chicken added mushrooms, shared half with my granddaughter. My complaint is this: $19 and had 2 inches of empty bread and barely any meat etc on part of that half too! Not going back. Never a problem at either Dort Hwy locations, they aren’t any farther for me to go either!
