Bonta del Forno was an average Italian restaurant for the Denham Springs/Baton Rouge area. Nothing “wowed” me…just your run of the mill Italian dining experience. It was okay, but I probably won’t be back.

They are a hidden Italian gem. The food is well done and it’s like a quiet, dark Italian hideaway.
It’s got a reasonable wine list and good cocktails, too. I keep forgetting about them since they are a bit hidden across from Bass Pro, but well worth the visit. My son loves the carbonara but my favorite is the chicken Marsala. The presentation is also very nice.

The food was great, the fried mozzarella was wonderful, the chicken Alfredo was delish! The 8oz filet was subpar- it tasted like a salt/pepper steak to which I don’t love (I don’t like the meaty raw flavor, I’m a southern person that needs seasoning!) it was great quality meat though and the other person in my party enjoyed it a lot! They said 10/10!!
My only “problem” is that this place is wildly expensive. There was 2 of us- 1 appetizer- 2 soft drinks- 2 entrees and it ran us $154.93!!! That’s just too much in my opinion(if you
Split the bill- that’s $77 a person), I would love to go back- but for that price tag… there are far FARRRR cheaper Italian 5 star restaurants between Baton Rouge and New Orleans that we could enjoy.

Bonta del Ferno Italian Restaurant is a exceptional dining experience. We celebrated my daughter’s 29th birthday there last night. Upon arrival, the front of the restaurant has a beautiful welcoming outdoor seating area. Very nice for waiting and conversation. The fountain was so very elegant and provides a great photo opportunity. We had reservations and was seated immediately. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and has an inviting atmosphere. The staff was so attentive and accommodating to my family and I. For starters we got the calamari. It was the best I have ever had. Seasoned, lightly battered goodness paired with a delicious marinara sauce. My family and I ordered different meals. Lasagna, Chicken Marsala, and Veal Parmesan. Every dish was absolutely delicious. I can not say enough good things. If you want a true Italian dining experience come and eat at Bonta del Ferno!

Nothing to see here…
Loud open dining room with concrete floors and minimal decor. Even had a cheap fake candle on the table… that should have been a sign.
Service was extremely slow. It took 40 minutes to get our food. Bread service was a loaf of bread covered in oil with a lot of finely grated Parmesan.
I started with a side Caesar, which was very bad, consisting of mainly white stalk. I tried to put pepper on it, but the pepper mill was empty.
I ordered the “Vitello al Parmigiano”- Veal served with pasta and aglio olio. The veal was very bland and tough. They forgot to add the oil to the pasta. When I asked for the aglio olio it took a while and then it was overly spiced with way too much garlic.
When I voiced my concerns to our server her response was that the chef was new… formerly worked at the sauté station.
They have a limited wine list that did have some decent wines.
This was pretty much a “one and done” place… never again.

Great atmosphere and excellent service. The food was not up to par. The calamari app was chewy and bland, but the sauce that came with it was very good. My pizza margherita was a 6.5 – not horrible, but not memorable. The lasagna was a solid 7.8, very distinct taste in a GOOD way. Not sure we will be back, need to think on that. We had a great time, this is a great date spot, maybe we just ordered the wrong items tonight.

The food was delicious, especially the cooked-to-order lasagna and that incredible complimentary bread. Our server, Julie, was perfect and incredibly gracious and patient while we sat at the table over an hour after our meal was done, while waiting on a severe thunderstorm to pass. She even brought a complimentary cup of coffee while we waited. She had already been tipped and didn’t have to do that. So nice. Beautiful rich decor, amazing patio with a dramatic water fountain statue,, and great date-night ambiance. Highly recommend.

If your looking for a different experience in terms of atmosphere and music or need just a fine dining night out or afternoon out, then you should make your way to this location for something that Denham Springs has been in desperate need of providing. You know your going to experience something different as soon as you walk through the front door. The smooth jazz mixed with fine Italian food aromas not only creates an inviting welcome but so does the old country decorum that replicates Italy. The food is wonderful. Prepare to pay a premium price but this is expected when you want to take that special someone for a wonderful dining experience. There is a wide variety of wines that also adds a certain quality of expectations to the experience as well. Just know that you will not be disappointed. I did not mention much in terms of the different meals but I very much enjoyed everything that was ordered and brought to my table. The waitress was very nice and provided a excellent service.

The atmosphere is dimly lit and quiet, perfect for an Italian establishment. The food was decent, once we finally got it. The service was terrible. Not simply substandard, but actually bad. There was only one other table seated when we arrived, there was no one at the front to greet us when we first arrived, and once we were seated, it was about ten minutes before we finally got our drinks. Worth visiting for take-out, but not for a dine-in experience.

The restaurant is beautifully set with a great atmosphere. The Italian music and lighting really bring the mood of Italy. Unfortunately the food is just so so. While nit bad by any means it seems to lack the flavor that is expected of superior Italian. The bread was the highlight of the meal. My daughter spaghetti and meatballs was very good. My wife had the lasagna and while plated quite uniquely there was a lack of flavor and seasoning that could not be overlooked. My Chicken Parmigiano was ok but I think it lacked sauce which made it quite dry. The service was in my opinion lacking. The specials were mentioned with out a price and our server offered us a side salad with our meal then charged us for full salads. My wife specifically mentioned thinking she couldn’t get it as a side and the waitress just said yes the charged 13 dollars for a side salad. Ultimately the food is average and service seems sketchy. I probably won’t return.
