When my husband and I travel we prefer to look for mom & pop type cafes for food. Today we decided to try Hext Trading Post forgoing a few other options and waiting 30 minutes longer to eat. When we pulled up the store front made it clear that only a certain kind of person is welcome at that establishment. As good God fearing Christians neither my husband nor myself felt comfortable even going inside. Instead we went further down the road to Mason where we found a charming cafe where I got the best onion rings hands down. Love always tastes better than hate and I recommend saving your pallet for love.

Can’t find more welcoming down to earth good people! If you don’t feel right in this place maybe you’re in the wrong part of Texas! Best burger around Menard,Mason and Brady! Definitely worth the drive and the experience to talk to the last of the “GOOD OL BOYS”

Texas hospitality at its finest! Didn’t take long for us to feel like part of the family and share stories of our life adventures with friends. I’ve eaten my share of burgers across the country and the Bacon Cheeseburger I had tonight was amazing. We will definitely be back. Thank you Mom!

This is as country and home style as it gets. Absolutely wonderful owners took care of us and cooked us an amazing meal. The menu is limited but hits all the major favorites. There’s even a small kids menu. The price was fair, considering the food portions.

Wonderful stories and great food. Fills your stomach and warms your heart, a must stop for anyone traveling through. Breakfast made by one of the first women crane operators in Texas makes the meal priceless. I will make sure to stop here even if I have to take the longer route through the area.

All I have to say is wow! This was our last stop before heading home from a cross-country road trip. The burgers and fries were amazing and the company was even better. We had so much fun talking with the owners Pat and Joe, plus their really entertaining friend Jaybird. We are so blessed to have found this gem and will definitely be back again.
