Tried this after a coworker recommended it, and we really enjoyed it! The place has a cool vibe, live music started about 10 minutes after we got there and they were really good. I’m pretty basic and stuck with the fried shrimp and I was surprised by how small they were but they were very flavorful! My husband couldn’t decide which dish to try so we ordered a little bit of everything.
I’ve never had fried green tomatoes before and they were fantastic! We’re already planning on coming back on a Monday night to try the beans and rice! Fantastic waitress who knew the menu front to back and great service.

First time visiting tonight. The Boudin Balls are a must get! That sauce is amazing. I wanted to take some home. Good portions, great prices, service was great. I like that they have half portion options. They had live music, which we’re not a fan of since it’s usually really loud, but we sat far enough away to where we could still hear each other talk. The Jambalaya is delicious, a little different than what I’ve had before at other southern restaurants, a little sweeter, but still really good with their homemade sausage. The Crawfish Pie with the cheese sauce was delicious, unique, unexpected and would definitely get again. We’ll be back.

Definitely one of a kind in the Twin Cities. If you’re in the mood for some Po Boys or Etouffee, this place will hit the spot! The people and service are great. The atmosphere is chill and comfortable. I would highly recommend the fried oysters for an app and the crawfish pies if it’s available. Both are rich and delicious and will put you in a good mood. The Etouffe is good as well but more on the lighter side as far as flavor intensity, so perfect for the average Minnesotan palette 😉 The thing that blew our minds though was the Mississippi mud pie we had for dessert! It was super rich and savory with nice surprises of crunch from the toasted walnuts. Brownie-like center that is covered by a delicious meringue was perfect, not too heavy and a perfect balance of chocolate.

Last night was our first time to Bistro La Roux. My husband travels to NOLA for work (and I occasionally go with him), and we were craving some of the sinfully delicious New Orleans fare. Bistro La Roux did not disappoint!

Our waitress, Sandy, was happy to give her suggestions (thank you!). We ended up with a oyster po’ boy, Boo fries (think poutine-like fries), seafood gumbo (half order), and the olives. My husband and I like to share our meals, so we get a little bit of everything

The food was delivered very quickly (almost shocking how quickly it came), and looked very appealing. The taste was fantastic! Po’ boy had fantastic flavor, wonderful combination of that deep fried oyster with the fresh veggies on that french bread. Boo fries had a savory beef gravy and not too salty (as I’ve had at other restaurants). The seafood gumbo, oh the gumbo, delicious little shrimp and okra with just the right amount of rice on top…I chose to to get the french bread and was so happy with my choice. The french bread had the perfect amount of crustiness to the outside with that soft, chewy inside. Being a big fan of olives of all flavors, perfect choice (they are NOT pitted for those not use to it, so don’t chip a tooth!).

Sandy was very attentive throughout our meal, ensuring that we were enjoying our first visit there.

I also knew that we would be having dessert, so we ordered the bread pudding a la mode (on the side). What a perfect ending to a delicious meal! I got so excited I forgot to take a picture of it!

I would definitely recommend stopping by this modest treasure. We had live jazz music as well (Southside Aces).

We will absolutely be back! Thanks for bringing a little NOLA to the north!

WOW! How is this place in Circle Pines?! My wife and I went to Bistro La Roux for our anniversary and had a blast, with Cajun food and live New Orleans Jazz (Southside Aces – highly recommend!). Then drove 15 min back home. Crazy! Service was fantastic as well. Great beers on tap and great atmosphere (go on a Friday night for the live music).

Came here for the monthly Crawfish boil. You have to call ahead and make a reservation. When you arrive they immediately seat you. There is a decent list of wine and beer offerings as well as standard Coke products.

Our family was seated near the Jazz band rhat played several great selections.

We were served 2 lbs of crawfish and a 1 lb of shrimp per person accompanied bypotatoes and corn. We ate our fill and still had plenty to take home.

As a New Orleans Native this was not a disappointment.

My husband and I stopped in on St. Patrick’s Day and it was amazing! We had boudin balls as an appetizer but forgot to get a picture because they looked so good we just dove right in. They were amazing! The dipping sauce was perfect also- just the right amount of heat. The server recommended some menu items and was quick and friendly. I ordered the catfish with gouda grits and the vegetable of the day. My husband ordered the alligator sausage po boy and he LOVED it. Overall it was a great experience and we will be back for the crawfish and shrimp boils in April!

Delicious Food, Exceptional Service, Fun Atmosphere; I lived in Louisiana. I will say that the seafood gumbo is spot on. And that was the best restaurant-made bread pudding I’ve ever had. Jambalaya is tomato-based. If you like that, it’s a good version. The grits are perfect. I will return.

Delicious comfort food, I last opted for the crawfish pie and it was creamy. Service was neighborly and they had fun options to try with the meal.
Couldn’t resist some dessert as well.
Dark chocolate and port wine, well done!
Usually visit early so I’m not one to speak on the music, but it sounds like a good time 🙂

Great little place. We’ve wanted to try this place for some time and glad we finally did! Best sweet potato fries ever. Lobster roll with fried ocra was good. Jambalaya is very tasty with house made corn bread. YUM!
