El Paseo Restaurant, which embodies a proud and historic Santa Barbara tradition of service, style and hospitality. The restaurant has a California cuisine. The El Paseo was first built in 1922 as part of an 1826 adobe complex which housed the Comandante of the Presidio Royale de Santa Barbara. Over the years, the restaurant has been the site of many fiesta celebrations and host to numerous luminaries, including Clark Gable, Carol Lombard, Jean Harlow, William Powell, Ginger Rogers, Shirley Temple, Rita Hayworth, Edward G. Robinson, Fred Astaire, Katharine Hepburn, Salvador Dali, Stravinsky, Will Rogers, Howard Hughes, Charles Lindbergh, Herbert Hoover.

As of 9/14/2025 the menu has changed for dinner. The menu is only the pictures I have posted. Sunday is buffet style and ends at 2 p.m. Dinner starts back up at 4 p.m and the menu is only the pictures posted. They also have a drink and cocktail menu. The drinks were amazing and strong! As an appetizer we ordered the pork belly crunch and the mixed mushroom crustini. They both had great flavor! Definitely recommend getting them. As our main entrees we all ordered their ribeye plate with potatoes and vegetables. Perfectly cooked to order how we all wanted. Definitely will be coming back and recommend you eat here.

I loved this place. The atmosphere is really nice. I loved how the location of the restaurant was located in a big courtyard. The food was mainly mexican food and absolutely delicious. Being the calorie king that I am, I went back for thirds. The dessert and the fruit were nice as well too. The cherry on top were the bottomless mimosas. The service was excellent as well. All in all a great experience.

We had a large group of about 20 and you wouldn’t have known it. Service and food were timely and the quality was not sacrificed. Sometimes hard to pull off with such a large group. Bravo to the owner for making our evening very enjoyable.

We went for taco Tuesday. The taco buffet was awesome except for the chafing dish lids kept slamming open making a loud bang noise that echoed throughout the entire restaurant. Also the booth table was too tight and when sliding in and out the table cloth, which was oversized and draping onto the floor, would drag with if not held in place. The happy hour menu apparently only has 1 drink on it? As told to us by the waiter, a margarita which i was told was as I wasn’t the one drinking. They also were able to do 50% tequila as requested, which was greatly appreciated. All said and done it was a wonderful experience and we would highly recommend going around 5pm before the rush. It can get very loud and echoes.

We ordered the guacamole & steak quesadilla as appetizers, and hubby had the steak enchilada, and I had the seafood enchilada. Mine was a little spicy. The black beans were really good. We shared both apps and were so full we could barely eat our main course. Our waiter, Angel was really good at waiting on us. The atmosphere was beautiful.
