Just passing through and found this gem! The atmosphere was casual yet inviting. Our server Emily was THE BEST! She was kind, funny and answered all of our questions with a smile. The food was amazing!! We tried steaks, burgers, chicken and dumplings and everything was perfect!!! Five stars from your new friends from PA!

Giving it a 2 star because at least the baked potatoes and hushpuppies were good. Was so excited to try Hitchcock but they really need to work on their food. The shepherds pie has no flavor. Chicken Imperial wasn’t anything like the description. Chicken wasn’t coated with anything. Just some plain chicken covered with sauce and mushrooms, doesn’t even say mushrooms come on it. Hope they can work some things out and become a great restaurant.

My gf and I were traveling through town and chose this place based off the great reviews. I’ll keep this short….the service was good, the atmosphere was abhorently stale, and my food was absolutely inedible. I ordered the chicken piccata, unfortunately even after the waitress tried to convince me not too. It was literally two pieces of bland boiled chicken atop a bed of overcooked spaghetti, covered in what looked and tasted like regurgitated lemon cake icing. The waitress even saw that I hadn’t touched my food and snickered. I’m guessing this is a common occurrence there. The glass of wine my gf ordered also had algea floating in it, which is indicative of it sitting for a VERY long time. The waitress did say it was the last of the bottle and they had no more for refills. Highly surprised we didn’t get sick. We will never go back.

My husband and I stopped here for lunch today and so happy we did. Not only was the food good, but our waitress was amazing. When we first came in, the tall blonde girl at the podium didn’t even make eye contact to welcome us, let alone give a warm greeting but it all changed quickly with our waitress.
After we sat, our waitress tended to us promptly – the receipt said Kelly but I thought I heard the other waitress call her Emily at one point. Nonetheless, she was warm and inviting despite having had a hard day already. She had a smile on her face and was personable, ready to give us a good experience. She took our drink order, gave us time to look at the menu, brought our drinks and answered my question about the specials. Our food came out promptly and tasty, and she came by to see if we needed anything else. She was appreciative of our appreciation for her good service and kindness during our stay I think she’s waited on our family during a visit months ago and was also very friendly and personable(:
While the other waitress was subpar, Kelly/Emily will have us back in no time, and we hope she’ll be on-shift for our next meal here!

The food was amazing , it was the best steak that we have had very tender , lots of flavor , and cooked perfectly. We got fried pickles and potato skins as an appetizer and those were amazing as well. The Mac n cheese, asparagus, mashed potatoes, hush puppies, and fries are delicious. This place is a must try and we will be going back. Support local restaurants!!

I cannot speak well enough of Hitchcock’s; I don’t normally review, but this place is a special gem! A blend of pub food (fried pickles, stuffed mushrooms, and wings, among others), Hitchcock’s is also a traditional meat n three, with the best the South can offer; we ordered the baked marinated chicken, pepper, mushroom, and gravy smothered hamburger steak, collards, Brunswick stew, field peas, fried okra, and some MEAN hush puppies, and it delivered!
And the best part? This is a family-run mom n pop, so the service matches the food: warm and wonderful. Our waitress, Robin, offered us extra fixins and warm conversation, all while tending all the tables and the bar singlehandedly and with a smile!
Folks like this deserve every great customer and all our support, not only because they make dining pleasant, but because their food is a testament to the mom n pops that make traveling on the road a delicious experience!

The food and atmosphere is amazing! My family and I were traveling back from Myrtle Beach and was looking for a nice sit down restaurant instead of a fast food spot. Hitchcock was pretty much a halfway point from sc to Greensboro, Nc and we decided to eat there after finding them on the route home. Robin was awesome! She went over the menu advised of certain ingredients in case of allergies and pretty much treated us like family!!!! If I could give 100 stars I would! Thanks so much for the great food and hospitality Hitchcock Restaurant! We will surely visit again when we are on the road

I wish I had taken a photo of the lunch burger because it was hands down one of the best I’ve ever had. Despite needing to be cooked well done due to the addition of chorizo, it was so juicy and flavorful. The batter on the onion rings was superb and seasoned well. The sauce that went with the onion rings was tangy and flavorful it’s the perfect balance of acid. The hand cut French fries on my partners plate, cooked to perfection and a nice surprise as most establishments use frozen these days.
The service was great with regular checkins and making sure we had everything we needed ahead of our meal so we could enjoy while hot and fresh.
As an added bonus everything was super clean including the bathrooms! Can’t wait to stop here again on the way back from our vacation!
