I own a few small businesses. I met with a client to catch up and vent. Although, it as not very busy which was nice for lunch, it was superb view the inside was clean and everyone seemed welcoming/warm. I really enjoyed the wasabi sauce with calamari, calamari was a little… chewy… not the word to use but not the worst (rubbery isn’t the correct description either) but still good, the hint of pomegranate hidden in the molasses that was on the Brussels was a nice surprise and added flavor level. My client and I both had burgers. I got mine with no onions but I did add jalapeños(which I’m hoping were made in house, nice flavor and spice level) and bacon, Juicy and flavorful, with the horseradish Dijon it was a flavor party. Superb for an afternoon and late birthday outing for us both! Def looking forward to another return!!

Stopped in an hour before closing. Atmosphere was good. Staff was friendly! This place is right on the water and has a great view. The fish dip was awesome. Ordered the grilled shrimp and sausage. It was AMAZING. Waitress offered water with… or without ice. That was pretty cool.

Great food. Unique community. Service not bad. Food out at a reasonable amount of time. Ordered two beverages. Got one half hour later had to get up to bar to get my own beverage. Short staffed i guess. Weak mixed drink.

Small harbor facing and river walk facing restaurant and bar on Harbor Island. Had lunch, a grouper sandwich and partner had an open faced shrimp sandwich. Nice shady area on a beautiful day. People and boat watched.

I don’t usually review places, but this place left me confused more than impressed. From the start, the menu felt short disjointed, and overpriced, the kind of place where the items have to be exceptional to justify the cost, and unfortunately it just wasn’t. The pricing structure makes even less sense when you see items like a $59 filet sitting on the same menu as a shrimp po’boy, plus a separate Valentine’s menu featuring filet and lobster with no clear value.
Service was also odd. After we finished an appetizer, I placed my used silverware on the plate expecting a fresh set, but our server removed them and set the same utensils directly on the table instead of replacing them. Small detail, but it added to the overall lack of polish.
We kept it simple and ordered teas, one appetizer, and two pasta dishes—and the bill still came to $106. Fine for a great meal, but not for something forgettable. The menu itself feels all over the place: tuna tartare next to a single $20 crab cake, beside beef carpaccio and pork chops. There’s no clear identity or cohesion.
The atmosphere didn’t match the “perfect Valentine’s spot” marketing either. Inside felt more like a bar scene, with people throwing them back, which is fine, but just misses the mark and clashes with the romantic vibe.
Overall, Watervue Grill feels like a restaurant that hasn’t decided what it wants to be—upscale dining, casual bar, or something in between and the prices don’t match the experience.

We enjoyed a really great dinner here! We were able to sit outside and enjoy nice evening weather and a view of the water. Even though we were the only outdoor table, the service was still very attentive! I enjoyed the short rib tagliatelle and it was fantastic! We’ll definitely be back.

Been to this restaurant a few times and I’ve always had a great experience.
We visit this restaurant when we come back for medical visits at Tampa General hospital. Today we tried the crab cake sandwich. This sandwich is so delicious and well balanced with its flavoring and garnishes. This is our go-to meal from this point forward. The french fries were hot, tasty and totally on point, as well.

We went for dinner on Sat Nov 15th and ordered crab cake, smash burger, and two cocktails for each of us. Everything was delicious and the service was very friendly and attentive (both waitstaff and hostess). We sat outside in a spot we thought was just for waiting but they accommodated us and set it up quickly and the views were great. The drinks were so well crafted, the crab cake was perfectly seared on both sides with just the right amount of yummy sauce and toppings, perfect burger and fries – delectable. We will return!

4/19/25 This was my first visit to Watervue. It was okay, but other options are better in my opinion. The crab cake was actually pretty good. The mahi mahi (pictured) was okay, but we also ordered the scallops which were disappointing. The scallops were tiny and over cooked without much flavor. We may have just had an uncommonly negative experience but we’ll probably choose other restaurants before returning to Watervue.

My husband and I came to dinner here when we were traveling in the area and left with fat, happy bellies! We arrived during their happy hour, so we got some delicious cocktails to start while we looked over what we wanted to eat. Sometimes we’ll order a bunch of stuff because we can’t decide and split everything. This was one of those nights! We ordered truffle fries, mussels, chicken wings and seared tuna with fried rice. Honestly we could have done without the fries – there was a mountain of them and we detected no truffle, so I’m not sure what they use but it’s on the weak side. Everything else was amazing!! That seared tuna was hands down one of the best seared tunas we’ve ever tried and the fried rice tasted like it was actually cooked in a seasoned pan. The mussels were cooked perfectly and the wings had this crunchy smoky outside that I’m drooling over as I type this out. We were very happy and will definitely come back if we’re ever in the area!
