The food was great. I had the steak, chicken and shrimp with a potato and vegetables. I don’t like cauliflower, but I devoured theirs. The mixed vegetables were seasoned to perfection and cooked just like I like them. All of the proteins were seasoned very well. The complimentary chips came out warm. The staff were attentive and friendly. I will return and will bring my coworkers.

Restaurant: Overall vibe is amazing and theme relevant for a Mexican chain restaurant.

Food: Got the Burrito Fajita and Burrito Oklahoma which really hit the spot on my cravings for Mexican food.

Prices: The Burrito Fajita was around 10$ (could be wrong I was hungry) and the Burrito Oklahoma is 9$

Staff: They’re hard workers but they keep every customer happy.

Wait times: Now at the time of this review it was a Friday and obviously it’s gonna be packed to the brim but it was definitely worth the wait for the food.

Overall? Best Mexican food I have!

Good food, staff is nice, they have great daily lunch specials like cheap fajitas on Monday’s and $1 tacos/$1.50 street tacos on Tuesday. Cold beer and great margaritas with lots of flavor options too. Plenty of parking and music always playing. Thanks for the good food and good times.

Passing through town and stopped here for convenience, but was pleasantly surprised with the great food. I asked about a couple menu items and the waiter suggested the quesabirria- it was outstanding. The au jus was a delicious dip for the tacos while the side of beans were rich and tasty as well. My wife got the steak gringo tacos and they were great also.

Is it a cartel or a syndicate?

Yep, they operate in a failed American style food restaurant building, in the small town of Gore OK. Unlike many small town OkieMex restaurants though, El Largo is a clean, noticeably well-maintained building, with excellent air conditioning. It is roomy and nicely decorated.
The food is very good and priced to provide a good value in today’s economy. The service is fast and friendly. They have a bar.
So, here is their deal. The combo menu has just about any Mexican food item you can think of, in as many combinations, that you can come up with. The best part of the deal is, a single meal is priced at $9.79. If you order two combo meals the total price for the two is $15.99. You save enough to make a good down payment on a big bowl of queso. That is what we did. El Lago seems to be very generous with the queso. If you order it on your food instead of red sauce you will be happy! My wife had a beef enchilada, beef burrito and a relleno. I had a beef taco, a beef enchilada, and a relleno. It you check the picture you can see that the restaurant was not stingy with the queso. All items were packed with beef! The taco, enchilada, and burrito were average. The rellenos had a very thin, fried, light batter coating over a very fresh poblano. filled with cheese. I liked it because it wasn’t a big pile of fried greasy breading.
The salsa served with the chips were very good. Nice flavors and nice heat in the picante salsa. Excellent mixed with the queso or applied liberally on the food. This was an enjoyable meal.

For 31 bucks plus a tip, we had two tasty meals, two soft drinks and queso.

Being curious, I talked with “El jefe” on duty. I am seeing a pattern that many, many of the small-town Oklahoma based Mexican restaurants are actually chains. Sure enough! The cartel or syndicate of owners, operate El Largo and restaurants in Warner, Ft. Gibson, and Checotah; all with different names.

This place is the real deal. Good margaritas, hot chips with salsa were excellent while we waited the short bit for our food to arrive. The food was amazing and the waitress staff was friendly. You should try it, you won’t be disappointed.

The food was okay but simple and needed more flavor. Salsa was a step above squished tomatoes. I’m used to a little more spice and seasoning. The service was excellent. The staff was very nice.
