Because of the reviews, I was pretty hopeful but nope, I got the barbacoa tacos plate and my friend got a steak plate.
Our rice and beans were dry and seemed like an old batch not fresh.
Her steak decent but a pretty ton for what you’d usually expect.
My tacos were very dry and the meat was seemed dry and old, cooked to a crisp, literally, the tacos were deep fried to a toasted crisp. I could only down one and left the others on the plate, had some chips and that was it for me.

The meat is great to eat but I do feel that the pancita was just giving a taste of pigs skin like just skin like meat. I do feel the consomé was good but a bit to much salty or maybe it’s just me. It was my first time buying here but yeah worth a try and when you buy the food with bones they will definitely give you bones for sure lol so I guess it’s okay that you pay the extra 3 bucks for the non bones dish. The meat seems a bit dry idk why. They accept cash or DEBIT card only. They have about a few small tables for ppl to eat but overall it was okay.

It’s a small place with few tables if you want to eat in, This is my favorite borrego de oro not because high prices but because it’s a gold standard for flavor and authenticity to the style of H

If I could rate this place a Minus 100 I would! I’ve been eating here since January 2020 when I moved into the neighborhood. I was overwhelmed to find such an authentic “real deal hollyfied” Mexican restaurant! You only get food like this from someone’s mother believe me! I go there today and there’s a different staff, so I ask the man if it’s new ownership and he says No. With my order I ask for chips and he gives me some real lame excuse why they don’t make them anymore. My burrito was pure Garbage, salty as hell, wrapped by someone that’s NEVER made burritos before in their life! And the green artificial salsa looked liked something from another planet! CONCLUSION: El Borrego De Oro sold their name to people that within a short period of time will go out of business. The food there now is worse than Del Taco, and I don’t eat there either. You might as well cook your shoe and put salsa on it!

It’s a very small place they don’t even have a menu up on the wall to see. They specialize in lamb it was very soft and tasty but dry they should add juice. But they do give you the option to buy it separately for $6 or depending on the size which I think it should come included with the meals since their kind of expensive already. The beans and rice were delicious but they don’t give up enough they don’t even fill the container up they burely give you some. Overall it was a nice change from the usual take out.

My mother in law and I were around the area looking for something to eat. we saw this place and decided to give it a try . Went in, sat down, and looked at the menu, and my mother in law quickly realized they had food from Puebla. We ordered 4 sopes and a quesadilla . OMG, that first bite says it all it was made with fresh masa aka( resien echa ) it was ssoooo GOOD . We both starred at each other. We were like, “This is our new spot .” I got an asada one chicken and one barrbacoa sope, and all of them we so delicious . I’m definitely coming back with my husband to try other items on the menu . But it’s your nearby. Definitely go in and try this place out . They are super friendly and helpful . The place is clean and they bring the food to the table for you and they have air conditioning. I for sure had to let them know before I left how good it was .

What people said about this place was right on. The barbacoa was excellent. Tasty and not greasy. Fresh tortillas. If you are looking for decor, go somewhere else. Located in a strip shopping center in Boyle Heights. The service is excellent and helpful.
