I ordered a cemita and it was quite good! The service here was excellent; Lety is very attentive and friendly! I had been to another Clifton location before and the service wasn’t pleasant, but it was very different and welcoming here.

Traveled from North Carolina to New Jersey/New York for my yearly trip, one of my friends recommended la fortaleza for dinner and I was very excited to come here along with my family. Upon arrival one of the main things that caught my attention is how unsanitary the place looks but still decided to give it a chance. A few of us ordered cemitas and the rest ordered things such as the molcajete, carne asada plate and Camarones a la diabla. The food took forever to come out and when it FINALLY came out we realized we were missing a few items, we told the lady who seemed to be the owner or some sort of manager about it, but still the molcajete took too long which is why we decided to make it to go sense we had already ordered it. The individuals who ordered the plates such as carne asada and myself noticed something unusual with the beans in our plate, I smelled them and immediately noticed the strong spoiled/rotten smell. I brought this to the attention of the mean lady working there and she was shocked upon hearing that she’s serving spoiled food items and stated that they were not spoiled – I literally have them on my plate how about you take a look or smell them so u can realize that YOUR FOOD IS SPOILED. At this time I am STILL WAITING for my molcajete. We expressed our concerns but just got a mean look and disrespectful answer from that lady who still charged us for all the food and walked away upon hearing our concerns. Finally my Molcajete came out after how long? About 45 minutes. One of my guests who ate the beans vomitted right after we left the place but we decided not to come back and say something to avoid getting a disrespectful/mean reply from that lady. This was honestly the worst experience I’ve had at any restaurant in this area. I left a one star review because google will not allow me to leave a zero star review. Will not be coming back and will not recommend this place to anyone. Hope they can take this review and improve upon their sanitation and the way they TREAT COSTUMERS.

Cemitas are really good. Service is friendly and the place is nicely decorated with real Mexican stuff. Is a small space so if it is crowded you might be a little squeezed but anyway, is a really good place.

Food is very good, enjoyed the meal and will return. This is my 5th visit there this year. Very festive inside and the employees are great. The food has a American swag to it, so it is not exactly authentic, but this suits most Americans.

A Mexican Vacation in Passaic! Skip the chain restaurants and fast food. You get real Mexican food prepared just for you by people who actually care. The small business, dedicated staff take great care of you. The servers are knowledgeable and will not serve you anything too spicy unless you ask for it. They also have beer and cocktails available.

Dirty , run down, food is bland. Where are the owner sisters ! They are needed at this place. No where it says service charge to eat inside, at end ur hit with 20% . Plus they expect a tip for mediocre service. This place took a dip downhill

This place used to be very good, went today and didn’t know a tip was mandatory. On top of that we got charged for TO GO containers !!!!! First time I’ve ever seen any restaurant charge that. If we didn’t finish the food why should we pay extra 8-10$ to take it home? Won’t ever be going back. Getting greedy. Better of going to the one in hope avenue the cemitas are way better.
