Very tasty. We tried the Low Country boil and Fish n chips. Both dishes were tasty with large portions. We also tried the Portly Stout and vanilla ale.
Porter was good, the vanilla left too much after taste.
Also had the crab bites as an appetizer.
Plenty of food leftover to take home.
Nice decor, good layout. Not crowded at 3 pm.
We will be back. It reminded us of a place back in Southport, NC.
Second trip:
Thursday night shrimp special, 1/2 lb peel and eat for $7.50. Banger shrimp app for $7.99. Both choices were tasty and filling. We added hushpuppies and crab balls and all were great.
Very nice place with seafood that is cooked just right. Love this place.

AWESOME!! Our first visit there, I ordered fish and chips, my wife had a fried oyster wrap. The prices were good, large, tasty portions, and great service by our waitress Amy. We even got a very friendly visit and a great smile from the manager Jerry! One other thing I should mention – we both substituted garden salad for coleslaw. The salads came out in metal bowls, a little different than we were accustomed to. We were both pleasantly surprised by how good and fresh tasting their salad was, considering this is primarily a seafood restaurant! We’ll be back!!!

We ate here with a few others, and the service was worse than anything I have received at even a fast food restaurant. Staff wasn’t very welcoming, or attentive seems very under-staffed. We paid 49.99 for a bucket of seafood that was supposed to feed four, and it was a complete joke, two small clusters of crab legs and half of the amount of shrimp anticipated. We will not return, after 130.00 bill and the urge to drive through Wendy’s after… Not to mention two different staff members spilled a food and drink at our table. Comically Terrible

Oh man I needed a low country boil. They had a great one and a duo Brew bucket. Amy was a magnificent server with a great personality that kept the food coming and the drinks topped off. We had a great time with family and there food was delicious.

The food was good. The waitress, however, was not. First off, she was very jittery and talking 90 miles a minute as if she were high on something, but I overlooked this because of the possibility of it just being her personality. Our food was correct, but she failed to separate my friends bills correctly after we finished, but again, it was no big deal. We came around 9pm and the place closes at 10pm. As we were sitting, the waitress is complaining very loudly about how she didn’t want to work there anymore if she was being paid $2.50 an hour. It was very unprofessional. When we left and got in our car, she literally came outside, came to our vehicle, motioned for us to roll down the window, and exclaimed VERY rudely “Was there something wrong with your food?” We didn’t really hear her, so she repeated the same thing, but even more rudely than before. She then exclaimed “k!” and stormed off, jerked open the door, and basically ran back inside. Not only were we baffled by her attitude, but we were all honestly scared that this woman was going to do something threatening. This is simply unacceptable. I will never return to this establishment. For the owners, maybe be more selective of who you hire, or watch over your store better.

Seafood lovers in Johnson City have a difficult time. It’s very hard to find quality, inspired seafood that isn’t fried to a gooey center (Harbor House) or run-of-the-mill standard fare (Red Lobster).
Surf N Brew meets and surpasses that need. Delicious, quality seafood at a very reasonable price. Absolutely worth your time.

Thank you, Lord! Johnson City finally has an affordable, fresh seafood option! Surf N Brew’s seafood is brought in DAILY!! I had the sea bass and the manager informed me that it had only been caught 18 hours earlier! From the water to the table in less than a day. Wow! And it was terrific! Generous portions too. Sure, places like Long John Silvers, Harbor House, etc are a little cheaper, but they are serving farm raised “seafood” that has been frozen for months. This is wild caught, FRESH seafood and is the closest thing to Charleston seafood that I’ve found in JC.

This place has 20 different craft brews and is the only restaurant in town with Capones Honey from JCB! Also their Hushpuppies are amazing. Plus $1 drafts on wednesdays! My only problem is that I wish they had more plug in outlets for students. If they had more it would make the perfect study location.

If you like seafood and fish this is a good place to come for a casual meal. Lots of TV’s with mostly sports on but two had commercial programs. The Po Boy shrimp & oysters was a good filling meal.

Native North Carolinian. This place reminds me of places at the coast back home. We went on a Tuesday night. I had not been since the name change. I had higher expectation food was mediocre. Fish tacos were bland with no sauce or spice. Service was slow.
