I had the Egusi and my boyfriend had the Jollof Rice. So delicious and great service! The gentleman who works there was very kind and even gave us free puff puff to start.

Don’t be intimidated if you have never tried African food. The owner was very helpful and helped us order based on food preferences. We had Egusi, fufu, okra stew with chicken and plantains.
He explained how to eat it and it was so delicious!

There are numerous options ranging from Asian hibachi to oxtail and tripe.

This was originally a Japanese restaurant called Sushi Star until it was bought out by the guy who owns it now. I used to go to Sushi Star every week, but I had to stop going once it became what it is now. The food is outrageously overpriced, they began charging customers for veggies in a hibachi fried rice of all things.

The restaurant’s decor was switched from nice and clean looking tables and chairs to a very cramped set of tables covered in those old sticky tablecloths you see at rundown 50 year old Italian restaurants.

The wait times grew exponentially longer and my food was never ready when I arrived. The guy who ran the register, whom I assume is also the owner, isn’t very good at customer service. He even tried to secretly tack on extra charges I didn’t ask for and insisted I did order those things (I always ordered the EXACT same thing every week for almost a year).

Whenever I went there after the restaurant was bought by the current owner, the temperature inside the restaurant would be unbearably hot. Every single time. I have no clue why it was that way, but I can’t imagine anyone would want to sit in there and eat.

It’s extremely disappointing, to say the least. Old customers and regulars are alienated and new customers seem to be displeased as well. I won’t forgive the owner for ruining one of my favorite spots to go to for lunch.

Finally, an African restaurant in Charlotte that truly means business! The food, flavor, and presentation were on point. Hoping they keep this same energy and consistency!

I’ve had a really disappointing experience with this place. The first time I went, they just had a vague handwritten sign saying they’d be back soon, but no actual time given of when they placed the sign up nor when they’d be back. It felt like they might have been gone for ages.

The following time we tried to order online through their website. They called back within minutes of our order being placed because they didn’t have the food, even though it was still listed as available. Mind this was around 4pm on a weekday.

Basically, poor communication and unreliable service. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Me: yams 10/10, oxtail 7.8/10 (pressure cooked, didn’t get the authentic taste as wish) but, still good. Greens 7.5/10 Arnold Palmer 8.5/10

Mother: yams 8/10, oxtails 5/10, Greens 7/10

Oxtail plate cost $26 +tax (little pricey but I definitely enjoyed it) continue to do well God bless!
