Great customer service, hometown feel, regulars in the house, and sandwiches are unique and tasty. Had the TAD, yes please! Turkey is REAL and not processed, sauces were good, avacodos soft and fresh, and the bread was easy to eat with good crunch. Definitely check this spot out if you’re in the area.

Heading upHighway 50 on our anniversary and husband’s birthday celebrate and fishing trip along Highway 395, we stumbled upon this little gem in the heart of historic downtown Placerville. The Main Street Melters is a funky, welcoming sandwich shop right on the corner of Main Street—perfect for people-watching and soaking up the small-town charm from their great outdoor patio.
I ordered the Cali Club, which came wrapped in two hearty halves—plenty to save one for later. My husband had The Rancher, also a double meat sandwich, and it was so big they automatically wrapped half to-go. At $15.50, these are generous, high-quality sandwiches—and totally worth it. Don’t let the price throw you off—there are more affordable options on the menu, too.
What really stands out is the quality. Every ingredient tasted fresh—from the crisp produce to the local bread that was clearly just baked. They use Boar’s Head meats and cheeses, freshly sliced, and you can absolutely taste the difference. These aren’t your average deli sandwiches—they’re elevated, flavorful, and made with care.
They also offer tacos, fresh salads, and a rotating tap list since it doubles as a beer spot. The staff was friendly, service was quick, and the whole vibe was relaxed and welcoming.
We’ll definitely be back—next time, we’re grabbing a few sandwiches to take down to the river and share. If you’re passing through Placerville, make this your go-to lunch stop. You won’t be disappointed.

People say this is the best sandwich in Placerville, but I say it’s the best sandwich PERIOD. While most places are in a race to make the most complicated sandwich possible, they’ve stayed true to keeping it simple and letting the food speak for itself with fewer, thoughtfully sourced/high quality ingredients that compliment each-other in a way only they know how to do it. Best part is you’ll feel satisfied, and ready to enjoy one of the local beers on tap after instead of having to chug a gallon of water and lay in the fetal position the rest of the day. The only problem you’ll have is the decision process-EVERYTHING is delicious. Also family owned/operated so you feel like a human instead of an order number

Such a good find. We were up here for our son’s baseball game. I missed lunch and looking for a spot to eat. We stumbled upon this charming spot. I ordered the Thanksgiving, my mom ordered a spicy chipotle and my wife had roast beef. All were tasty. Next time I will grab a beer and enjoy the front patio a bit longer.

The bird sandwich is a simple, yet sly, chicken breast sandwich on a French roll. The French roll was so simple, plastic, not warm, not hot, not toasted – just a plain old bread with some aioli sauce, a couple of peppers, and a couple of purple onions, nothing to write home about. I ate it because I was hungry. Still, it was not worth it not to come back to this joint anymore; the only thing good about this place is the beer.

Don’t bother with this place. $35 for two sandwiches which were not great. I asked for sourdough bread and my sandwich came on white bread. Small sandwiches. Subway has better sandwiches for a better price. Nothing special here.

Stopped here for lunch thus afternoon with my Brother. Had the Beef & Bleu sandwich on Sourdough. It was delicious. My brother inquired if they ever had acoustic music on the patio & Samantha was very knowledgeable about the local venues in town that feature music . This place is family owned & operated which I love. The covered deck is perfect at providing shade & offers a relaxing area to enjoy their hand made menu items. I tried a Wyatt Earp Sasparilla & it was delicious. I highly recommend coming here.

Sandwiches were fine, but not exceptional. Flavors were not well balanced, but also not very strong, tending toward the fatty end of the spectrum. Fillings not very generous, and the bread was conventional store bought bread slices.
Boar’s Head meat, so ingredient quality wasn’t great to start with (the filth in their factories led to several poisonings and nation-wide recalls.)
