We stopped at Joes on the way back from exploring the island, and I’m so glad we did! Not only is the BBQ delicious but Joe and his wife are wonderful to talk to! The bbq chicken was delicious, with a little spice and wonderful flavor. The beans and coleslaw were also outstanding. Don’t pass by Joe’s without stopping and eating. It’s a must have BBQ place to stop by on the island!

I absolutely love the food here at Joe’s Backyard BBQ in Kapolei Hawaii. My all time favorite is the Jamaican oxtail and Bbq brisket, but you should call in advance to check because they don’t always have it. I actually have these two dishes flown in from Oahu to the Big Island sometimes.
Today I got to taste the catfish poboy and the pulled pork sandwich. Omg, the honey mustard sauce on the pork sandwich was amazing and not to mention how catfish was so good! Catfish was seasoned wonderfully and it was crispy on the outside and moist in the inside. Love the catfish! I recommend this lunch wagon because Joe and his wife never disappoints. Flavors are always on point!

Went here with the fam after going to surfing at White Plains Beach. It’s currently located in the Coral Crater Adventure front parking lot along with a few other lunch wagons.
For a convenient lunch wagons, the BBQ ribs were on point and really tasty. It was just the right amount of flavor and juciness. The beans and coleslaw were tasty side dishes.
We also got the Catfish sandwich and it was delicious. It reminded me of being back in the south. It’s a unique taste that you miss every now and then being on the island and that craving was satisfied.
Our mixed plate included bbq chicken that was savory and tasty. The BBq sausage was the biggest surprise as it was juicy and kicks you at the same time. If your into spicy, the sausage will be a delight.
Joe served us as he was attentive and courteous. He cracked a few jokes and our order was up before you know it. It’s great having options here in Kapolei and we will definitely be back the next time we get a BBQ craving. Thank and God Bless.

Found them online while driving back to Waikiki. Great bbq eats. Bought the mixed plate and rib plate. Beans delish with pieces of bacon. Coke slaw crunchy and spicy. Solid meal. Ribs fall off the bone with great sauce. Tasty. Ribilicous said my son.

Joe’s is easily the best southern BBQ on Oahu, possibly the state. Everything is great, tastes like authentic BBQ. I love the beans, Ribs, Brisket, hot links, mac and cheese, love it all. Prices are reasonable and portions are large. Yum

I have been here 5 years. I come often because of the food, the atmosphere but most importantly the people. Joe and his wife are extremely generous and awesome people. They have big hearts and great food. I recommend this to anyone coming to island by far the best bbq on the island. But also very good people to have a conversation with as well. Do yourself a favor and stop by. I’m thankful for good people and good food.

The pulled pork sandwich is absolutely out of this world. Moist, packed with flavor, and mouth watering. The hot links are equally as phenomenal. They’re juicy and the perfect spice level. Joe and his wife were incredibly friendly and kind during the whole exchange. I look forward to going back again and again!

The food here in Hawaii is great, but being from the south and loving southern-style smoked barbecue, I’ve really been missing the taste. Joe’s BBQ lunch wagon help me get my nostalgia fix lol. The ribs were properly smoked and tender without falling apart like mush like some places. I enjoyed the baked beans and roll. I would have like the coleslaw more but it has some spice in it – red pepper maybe? Not saying it was inedible or I wouldn’t necessarily try it again, spicy is just not my thing. The chicken looks very good I definitely want to try that sometime as well. They also have a band play in front of the food trucks some days which was pretty cool. Joe and his wife seem like nice people as well and were very friendly.
