The place is solid, but it’s not high-end, and it’s clearly not trying to be. This is an everyday restaurant for people from the Valley, with very Valley-style flavors, and that comes through in the food.

The shrimp roll was the highlight. It’s basically a shrimp-and-cheese bomb, a signature dish that feels unique to this restaurant. Flavor-wise, it’s excellent and very well put together. That said, the shrimp itself is not high quality, but that’s understandable given this is not a fine dining spot. They’re focused on flavor and volume, not premium seafood.

The seafood soup was also good, with solid flavor and no shortcuts obvious.

The oysters deserve special mention:
very fresh and not previously frozen, which is extremely important and something many places in the Valley don’t get right. Compared to other spots, these stand out. The oysters are a 10/10, no hesitation.

As for the shrimp quality overall, I’d rate it 4/10 honestly. However, the local-style seasoning, sauces, and preparation compensate for that and make the dishes enjoyable. The fish is good and properly cooked, nothing fancy but reliable.

The restaurant itself is attractive, spacious, and comfortable, clearly designed for regular visits rather than special occasions.

Final Verdict

Muelle 37 is a honest restaurant.
It’s not gourmet and not upscale, but it delivers, has a clear local identity, and offers a few dishes that are absolutely worth coming back for.

Overall rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)

You don’t come here to impress anyone. You come here to eat mariscos the way people in the Valley like them. And done right, that has real value.

We haven’t even received our food yet, but we’re hoping it’s good. I needed to put this review ASAP due to our server experience and it hasn’t ended yet. Unfortunately, we have a horrible server today… She has been a ridiculous, dry, expressionless rude server. Ok, the principió soup was accompanied by HUGE serving spoons, not sure what’s up with that. She has not responded to any of our requests with a yes or nod to acknowledge our requests. This isn’t the first time we have this lady as a server either. Weird that she was just smiling & acknowledged to table next to us. She takes our empty plates & barely allows us to speak to her when we’re needing more condiments order. Still no extra chips or beans either. She walks away before we can complete our request again! Wish we had got the guy next to this lady’s area. He was able to get us smaller spoons finally… We asked an assistant manager, probably, for more salsa & got it right away. No second round of chips oh well. Update… Food got here and is really good… Hope no one else experiences this…

Loved then place. Our waiter Fernando was very good and attentive. WiFi had a Red Snapper…. I had something simpler. Can not wait for El Muelle 37 to open in Rio Grande City.

Very good Seafood Restaurant. Delicious Food. Good customer service. One thing is they have some Spanish speaking only waitresses which might be a bother to some people. I don’t mind it. If you don’t know Spanish, Learn!

Our waitress was AMAZING! She told us our plates would take a while. So she brought us beans, salsa and chips to begin. Then she brought us vegetable soups which I recommend you try. I had the Diabla dish, my son the hamburger and my daughter was a soup with breaded fish. It was delicious. So far the best fish place I have been too. I’m not going to lie about it either. The desserts are a must to try. The cheese cake they ran out however the chocolate and flan were delicious. The slices are a good size. Yes, I do recommend this place. Go to Muelle 37 Mariscos.

4/7/23 7pm- There were a couple of people waiting when we arrived so we decided to sit at the bar. The food/drinks/service was great but there was no internet for the card reader so we had to pay cash. They did have a sign for that issue at the door so no biggie. I forgot to take a picture of the ceviche tostada appetizer but it was good as well.

Ordered fish and shrimp only got fish. Bass steamed was delicious very small piece on a huge bed of onions which should be a option. Rice was not cooked all the way. Large brown salad on plate. Tartar sauce had some kind of hot spice. They did not have a regular tartar sauce. Too bad.

I like this place. Especially if you are in the mood for fried fish. The baked fish dishes are excellent. Big plates, I even liked the tacos con Carne. My only complaint, is they don’t have a good red sauce nor do they have any Horseradish so you could make your own, in a pinch.

Drove down here from Laredo Texas to bring my parents for my father’s birthday since they had been speaking about this place for sometime now. Horrible service the worst customer service especially from our lady server with the mask and the girl with the other mask on that brings you the soups. What a shame…. Never again will I come to this place or recommend this place. And the manager was a joke as well!! Super disappointed. Thanks for ruin the vibe for the birthday celebration. Shame on you
