The food? The food was the best Mexican food I’ve ever had in my life and I’m not exaggerating. Authentic and delicious!
We had Al pastor tacos, birria tacos, choriz-queso, quesadillas. Everything was just out of this world.
All what I miss about good Mexican Taquerias is here.
Great food & kind staff!
Id recommend to anyone
The server seemed to be new and unsure – she was trying, but perhaps had minimal training? Note: the owner or manager was available, and sat at the bar on his phone instead of training the employee.
I had to do a double take when I tried the cactus burrito. Everything is so flavorful and well made. You can tell they use high quality ingredients. Great options for vegans too. Like I said, honestly the best Mexican food I’ve ever had in Buffalo.
The salsa was flavorless, the guac had no foundation: no lime, no onion, no complexity.
The sour cream was not sour. Tasted like fluffy water aspirated mayonnaise.
The nachos look beautiful but not one herb could be tasted in all of the stack. Not one cilantro leaf was used in all of their preparations.
The chicken quesadilla was better but they used American cheese. American cheese with no depth of flavor. No nuance. No complexity. It tasted like Kraft Singles American cheese used in white bread sandwiches with bologna. Had they used a Vermont Cheddar even Cabot, it would have been formidable.
I attribute their high rating to the fact that the decor is lovely, they cater to college students, and, due to location, it appeals to those too drunk to think about flavor.
As someone who visited Mexico and was spoiled by great Mexican food in Allentown, PA at La Placita Mexicana this is simply a no. I cannot imagine that those working here eat or serve this food to their families.
