This was hands down the WORST Mexican food I have ever had. I ordered a chicken taco. The shell was like a premade shell that was fried. Chicken was dry and rubbery. The Refried beans were watered down. Quesadilla…a chunk of cheese unevenly, and barely melted in a tortilla that was like paper. Just terrible! My biggest regret was stopping. The big white chunk of cheese in the pic is from the quesadilla

Been coming to this place since 1985 or so the sopes are amazing best I have ever had this is my go to spot for delicious reasonably priced plates al carbon.
The salsa they make has always been the same perfect amount of spice .
It’s a definite must have ..

I used to go to El Apache back when it was in Boyle Heights, and seeing it here now brings back so many childhood memories. The taste is exactly how I remember it simple, delicious, and comforting. Their sopes and burritos are honestly the best just real flavor done right. Nothing fancy, just that good old school taste that hits the spot every time. So glad they’re still around. A little piece of my childhood I get to enjoy again. Delicioso!

A Local Gem That Still Hits the Spot
I used to live walking distance from Apache’s, and now every time we’re back in L.A., we make sure to stop by. There’s a lot of nostalgia tied to this little spot—but beyond that, the food has stayed pretty much the same over the years, which is a good thing.
Our go-to? Always the burritos. They’re simple, flavorful, and satisfying. The drinks are solid too. If you’re looking for anything fancy or “elevated,” this probably isn’t your spot. But if you’re after great burritos, straightforward flavor, and that old-school L.A. vibe, Apache’s delivers.

Great sopes, tacos, burritos and a bowl of beans with their specialty salsa. Been going there since the early 80’s

Been coming here since I was 11 and lived just walking distance from it. How I miss it. I now come wen I visit Cali. Unfortunately food does change over the years and will not taste the same anymore as you remember it . I will still be coming back for more. It appeared that their meat has change a bit and actually has a Lil crisp to it. That was a big plus.

This is one of those places that the food is good but has horrible service. Can’t even ask for extra hot sauce

Heard of this through a friend who grew up in the area. I ordered a Carne Asada Burrito and a Chicharron Taco. There was nothing good about any of it other than the beans in the burrito.
The meat was not Carne Asada. It was some cheap, fatty Milanesa that was obviously warmed up from the day before. It was dry, lacking the grilled color and had no flavor.
The Chicharron Taco was a total bust. The Chicharron came from pre-made bagged, as it had the same texture as store bought. All they did was put some in a tortilla with onion and cilantro. The tortilla wasn’t even warmed up enough too.
And to top it off, the Salsa was so watered down you could literally see it.
I gave this place a 2 being generous. Only because the beans were good and the lady was nice.

I love this place! I live in Oklahoma now, but every time I go back to LA to visit family, you can bet I’m coming here to get the best sopes in town! I particularly like the nostalgic feeling. It looks exactly the same as when my dad used to take me there back in the 80’s! Also a big fan of their tacos de chorizo ❤️
