We’re staying at the campground down the road. I’ll always go for Jamaican food when we see it.
I had the ribs, rice and peas and the smoked cabbage. Hubs had the redfish, rice and peas and fries (idk why he ordered fries with much better options).
We sat outside, it’s a beautiful day and had a great view of the dam.
Anyway, the food was delicious.
Big ole meaty beef ribs with a delicious Cajun spice. The beans and peas… I want to order a gallon and bring it with us. Smoked cabbage was good, I’d like a bit more smoked flavor, but it was still great. Hubs devoured his fish (with the head) and had one of my ribs.
They don’t serve alcohol there, but you can go to the store and get wine (super limited) or beer (beer cave) and truely type drinks.
We’re going back this week for chicken and shrimp.

Let me tell you about a Great little restaurant that you have to try.
I had a 33:year career in the business, and I don’t get to say that my much.

THE VIEW
The Falls are directly across from the restaurant and can be seen from the patio. Beautiful scenery.

THE ATMOSPHERE
Of course Jamaican music is playing, at an appropriate level. The Decor is tropical, and thoughtful.

THE STAFF
It’s family owned and operated. Which makes me like it more. I met the owner, Jason. A very nice guy. Jason & his wife are the owners but the man that runs it, is Maverick. Everyone was super friendly.

THE FOOD
Delicious. I had the Jerk Shrimp with steamed Cabbage and Mac-n-chez. The well seasoned Shrimp were huge and fresh. Just the right amount of spice. The Jerk sauce has peaches instead of mango as a nod to the Peach State. I thought that was cool. The sides we’re good as well.
It’s one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time.

I recommend this restaurant without reservation.
Bravo, Island Falls!

Wonderful place. The staff was all very friendly. Ordered dinner for the crew, we all had the jerk chicken with Mac and cheese and smoked cabbage.

The chicken was extremely tender with just enough smoke and great spice rub. The jerk sauce was absolutely delicious. The Mac and cheese was out of the park, it had all the little crunchy cheese bits I love. Smoked cabbage was full of flavor and had a nice vinegar touch. Will definitely come back again.

Right across the street is a beautiful view of the falls.

We stayed at High Falls State Park and it was an easy walk across the street. Hard review for me as the food was very authentic and very good. Maybe 4 or 5 star as food goes……… But……I am not sure how you feel, but paying $3.50 for tea that is non-refillable and $2 a glass for tap water? That was a shock. I asked for Ketchup and Mayo and a tiny amount was brought out ON LIDS….. Like mason jar lids – is that a Jamaica thing? Furthermore, the server must have been new, she did not know the menu and with every question, she had to run in the back to get the answer.

FOOD – solid Jamaican food. The meat pie was better than any I have had in Jamaica. Excellent. My wife went with Jerk Chicken, she said it was very tasty and spicy. I went with BBQ ribs, which were decent. They are dry rub ribs with a great bark and Jamaican flavor. We both go Mac n Cheese, excellent. The fries were perfect, crispy and very good.

Overall, the experience was 3.5ish. I am not sure we wood go back, hopefully this unique place makes adjustments and survives.

Must experience the food,
A) fall off the bone chicken ( I had jerk ckn), real good sweet yet spicy flavor profile. Mmm so good.
B) home made Mac n cheese is real good.
C) rice and beans moist, flavorful.
D) smoked cabbage had a good smoked flavor.
E) Great portions of food
Will surely return. Only suggestion is to look at changing the flimsy Togo fork to a stiffer fork. Even though all the food was easy to fork just a bit flimsy.
Great Job

Me and the wife went to the waterfall Park in the area and decided to make a stop at this restaurant. I have been to plenty of Jamaican spots in the Southeast area and the Northeast area of the country. All we got were some beef patties and some steamed cabbage which are staples in any Jamaican restaurant. The Cabbage was terrible and wasn’t seasoned well, and the Jamaican patties were soggy. Let me say that again, the Jamaican patties were soggy! Look at the picture that I attached of the patties. They looked okay and smelled okay but as soon as you touch them it was like you were holding a thick piece of rubbery baloney or something the way that it was just jiggling and soggy. The dry customer service notwithstanding, the place looked pretty presentable but as soon as you walk in, you will get the vibe that people really don’t go there often at least not on a saturday. I asked the cashier if they had any ackee and saltfish (another staple of Jamaican spots) and she seemed to be confused about what that was. I gave her grace and just ask for the other two items we bought. If you are looking for authentic Jamaican food please visit a place such as J&F Caribbean Delight (No affiliation and they’re not paying me) because this place is not it. Oh let me not forget to mention this, they did have some authentic Jamaican soft drinks, but they were overpriced. You can get the same Jamaican soft drinks at a Kroger or Publix for under $2. They charge us $6 each and we got 3! I even got a “Ting” soft drink (another staple) and had to spit it out because it tasted like it was old. Did I forget to mention that the drinks were handed to us warm? Good night y’all.

So I Went Here The Other Day, & It’s Was a Cool Little Hidden Gem…Owners Very Down 2 Earth, & Food Was Decent…This Will Be An HONEST Review, & Don’t Get It Twisted ANYONE…Cause I Don’t Tare People Down…ESPECIALLY Black Owned…Wings Were Fresh…Rice & Beans/Peas Decent…One Thing That Was Off, Curry Tasted type Off…The Chicken Seemed Type Tuff, Like The Same They Use for The Jerk…I May, Every Now & Then Except Jerk Being a Little Tuff Due 2 The Cooking Process, but Curry Shouldn’t be the Same…It Also Had a Slightly Burnt taste to it “The Curry”….

The Mac & Cheese was Actually a Surprise, & Was Good…Most West Indian Restaurants Can’t Master this, & Tend to Call it Macaroni Pie…Them Big Bull Wings, 2 Words “Sell Off” for The Ones That Don’t Know = GOOD…They Were Fried Hard, which I’m Not a Fan Of….I Know They Were Fresh Though, & Heard The Grease When He Dropped Them….

Last but not Least, The Jerk…It Was Decent, but Let Me Tell U What Saved the Day…Right before I Was About to Leave “So Happen I Was Lookin Thru My Bags” She Came Out, & Said They Had Some HOT Jerk Sauce Comin Up…I Figured it Was Fresh, & Then Started 2 Wonder, Hmmm…Wonder if it’s Spicy…Well lol, it’s Was a Bit Off Both…Not 2 Spicy Though…Went So Good Wit The Chicken!!! Fries Fair, & Slightly Seasoned…”Caution” Rice May Have a Slight Kick/Spice 2 it, Depending On What U Order…I Luved it Though!!!

I Will Definitely be Going Back, & Hope This Review Don’t Get Took The Wrong Way by U Guys…I Luv Tha Vibes, & Tha Cashier Was Cool Too….Be on The Lookout for Updated Reviews
