Their apology was 20% off the next order. But when I tried to apply it, the manager said they could only apply it if I placed the order over the phone. And when I did that, I couldn’t take advantage of the coupons, which made my order 15 bucks MORE! When I tried to get the manager to apply the discount to my app order (which I was in the process of placing), he hung up on me. These guys are just the worst. They don’t staff appropriately and their manager doesn’t know customer service. I’ve worked in restaurants for years and delivered pizzas as well, and this ain’t how you do it.
However, I was disappointed to see another customer vaping inside the store. As a customer, it’s concerning to see someone vaping where food is being prepared and served
The first thing that threw me off was the message while I was checking out; “Tipping now helps ensure a smooth contactless delivery experience for you and your store’s delivery drivers. Please consider pre-tipping now.” I basically always tip, and almost every time it’s while I’m checking out (instead of after delivery), but this message gave me pause. A friend I sent the screenshot to (basically asking if I was being crazy) put it best: It sounds like you’re about to receive conditional service, and really, that’s not okay. I’m sure the PR people who wrote this must’ve meant something else, but it was super off-putting.
Still, I tipped my usual 20% and placed the order. At first, preparations were made fairly quickly: it got all the way to quality control (the final stage before delivery) by 7:04pm.
And that is where it sat. For the next hour and 15 minutes.
When I finally got a “your delivery driver is on his way!” text, it took another 15 minutes for them to get to the apartment we were getting it delivered to… which was 5 minutes down the road.
When it arrived, it was warm, but also overcooked. The crust (we ordered hand-tossed) was almost nonexistent, the bacon was burnt, and that first bite (even through the haze of hunger that usually makes almost ANYTHING taste like heaven) was basically cardboard.
Oh, and if anyone cares, the $14 pizza came out to about $24 after all was said and done.
