Soup or salad? Get the tomato soup! Whether it comes with your meal or not, get it! It’s amazingly good. You’re welcome. Anyway, this is a nice restaurant so wear pants. That’s in lieu of wearing shorts of course. It’s not over the top fancy but hey, dress nice, capisce? The food? Delizioso. My ” Veras Lasagna” wasn’t pretty but it made my mouth water. And for good reason. My wife had the “Chicken Marsala” which also was very good. For dessert she enjoyed the “Chocolate Mousse” and I enjoyed the “Chocolate Mousse Cake”. So good!

Probably the worst Italian food I’ve ever had. The veal portion was incredibly small and extremely disappointing — it wasn’t battered at all, just thin, soggy, and completely tasteless. The sauce was very watery and lacked flavor.
The Caesar dressing tasted more like a garlic dressing than a traditional Caesar. The bread was hard and had an odd taste, including the olive oil served with it. The calamari didn’t come with lemon, which is a basic expectation, and the red sauce tasted like it came straight out of a can.
Overall, the biggest letdown was the veal. For an appetizer and one entrée totaling $40 before tip, the quality was nowhere near acceptable.

Love this place. Will be back.

May just not order lasagna to go. Portion seems smaller than dinning in.

Chicken Parm is amazing and def calamari is a must!

Good Italian food with nice atmosphere. Service was a little slow. I recommend going early to avoid the dinner rush.

The food would have gotten a 5 if the Caesar salad was actually cold and good. The fried oysters with artichoke/spinach over angel hair pasta and butter sauce was DELICIOUS! The server didn’t offer the special. I heard the server next to me offer it and stated that it came with a choice of soup or salad. When I asked her about it she told me what it was but didn’t tell me about the soup or salad until I asked. Also she didn’t tell me what bread was served in the beginning. Other than that- my entree was DELICIOUS

We were visiting the area and looking for a place for dinner. We found Sandros Trattoria on Goggle Maps. It was fabulous!! Eggplant Parmigiana and Lemon Piccata dinners were delicious! A bottle of wine was reasonably priced. Flan was perfect! The wait staff was friendly and attentive. Excellent meal and service!!

Best Italian food in Metairie ! I would stop there, but you need to know what is so amazing. We had heard several times that we needed to visit but have put it off honestly for years. Our mistake. Now we’re planning on how we can get back there at least two times a month. There are a lot more dishes for us to try.
We arrived at around 4 PM on a Saturday night hoping to be able to get a table and we were successful. Staff was amazing very friendly and service was wonderful. The whole time we were there.
First off: their bread and olive oil is magic on the tongue. It arrives at the table, looking a little smashed, but is incredible and delicious with everything.
We started with the mussels appetizer – the mussels were cooked perfectly and oh my gosh !!!! The broth- so good. We ate all the mussels and then proceeded to eat the broth with the amazing bread. Slightly tangy and just layers ofgreat flavor.
Apologies we can’t talk about the alcohol because we were drinking water. Maybe I’ll update this later when we go back.

Our mains were Osso Buco and Beef Bushaloni. The osso bucco was a large piece of meat, of course, wrapped around a bone. The sauce on the also Bogo and its pasta was dark rich and flavorful. Some Italian places tend to put the same sauce on everything, but not here though. The sauce on the beef Bushaloni was uniquely its own.
The Bushaloni had some very unexpected yet amazing flavors inside the roll. And again the sauce for the pasta on the Bushaloni had its own unique flavor profile that was rich and amazing and yet very different from the osso bucco. Having lived in Italy for a little while I know how important the pasta alone is to any Italian dish. The pasta by itself had its own rich flavor profile. They did not just throw pasta in water. They have some other magic seasoning sauce going on in there. bellissimo

By around 5 PM people were coming in and the staff of course was asking if they had a reservation so my suggestion is make sure you have a reservation. It’s worth it.

I’ve heard this place was a hidden gem, so I had to go see for myself. The whole experience was perfect! The atmosphere was relaxing and immersive, the service was great and the food was absolutely delicious! I ordered the eggplant parmesan and it tasted like my friend’s Italian nonna cooked it. I will definitely be back with family and friends!

Dined at Sandros 12/31/2025 and received excellent service/food from a fixed price menu. Had a prepaid gift card which was refused in favor of paying with CC. Go figure.
The gift card was PAID IN ADVANCE…the owner had the money.
The credit card has to be processed, remitted and cash credited to restaurant’s account at a later date.
There was no notice on the gift card of restrictions.
Before giving a gift card to this restaurant, inquire about black out dates.
The Trattoria is still a favorite but, please, tell customers in advance of any restrictions.
HAPPY 2026

I had Christian as a waiter and he was super nice! He even looked up the weather for me on his phone. I was worried that day about the rain because I was flying to Boston that day, and he asked if I wanted him to look up the weather on his phone for me. And he kindly did it for me. I also asked him to wait to bring the drinks out until I was seated at the table. I traveled alone so I was just taking a precautionary measure. Christian was so polite and understanding. If you go to Sandro’s, request Christian!!! I also had the muffaletta sandwich and ceaser salad!! It was good!!
