Just left this hidden gem restaurant. The best caldo de res that I have ever tasted besides my grandma’s. Excellent food! Owners are humble and attentive. Highly recommend.

We were brought to this place by my Father in Law. As you pull up you see a restaurant that falls right into the category of “hole in the wall”, which only means one thing. GREAT FOOD. The staff from the beginning are very attentive and throughout the service. Food service was prompt and everything was nice and hot. The portions are very generous. Im a rice lover so once my plate came ( Carne Guisada) first bite was the rice. When I tell you it tasted just as good as my moms rice. The Menudo plate even the small is a healthy portion. The Gordita plate should be name The Gordota Plate one gordita almost covers the whole plate. By the way the Carne Guisada was great, very tender meat and the gravy had good flavor. All in all Highly recommended. Don’t judge a restaurant when it comes to looks because its always whats on the inside that counts. I literally clean my plate to a shine.

The caldo de res is great. It brings back memories of my grandmother’s cooking. I’ve had the huevos rancheros they are decent good portions on both dishes.
The waitress are very professional and courteous. I did have to ask for another hot sauce. I like My hot sauce on the very spicy side. The managers are very nice and friendly. They all made you feel at home.

Great little spot serving fresh made food. I enjoyed my combo plate of beef crispy tace, cheese enchilada and tostada. All solid with the enchilada sauce being the standout. Chips with both salasa roja and queso with optional green salss that had a nice garlic bite. Quick and efficient service. Great value all around. This is a classic hole in the wall.

Really enjoy coming here. Good is good. Salsa good. Nice little tucked away restaurant. If you want some good Mexican and are trying to impress someone with a off the beaten path type place…. good option. The food will be great 🙂 Breakfast is always nice with tasty coffee. Caldo good. Menudo good. Just all around good food consistently.

This is Houston’s hidden gem. As a traveling sales rep, I’m not able to bring my lunch most days. El Puerto has been a blessing, providing top-tier food at an affordable price and restaurant-style service at fast food speeds. You can be in and out comfortably in 30 minutes. The staff is very kind and attentive, and did I mention that the food is freaking good?? I cannot recommend El Puerto enough, and I will be dining here every time I’m in EaDo.

Yes, the parking lot and building are not in the best shape. However, you’re also not paying $20-$25 per person for food, and they give you free queso as a dipping sauce, which you would pay $6-$10 for at many restaurants. So just remember when you’re expecting the atmosphere and facilities of Guadalajara or Lupe tortilla that you’re paying half the price and still getting the same quality of food.

This is the official stop for Port of Houston workers, and I think it has a unique atmosphere that matches.

Their portions are just right for me, not too big, not too small. It was just what I was carving for. They have plenty of parking even for semis.
