I absolutely LOVED my experience here. The food was so delicious, coffee was so good!! Everything is locally sourced and you can tell in the best way possible! The coffee syrup is all natural and wasn’t overly sweet like the torani syrup that most coffee shops use. I love the calm atmosphere and authenticity. I live in Indiana but would love to come back when I’m in the area again!

Best Coffee in Farmville, VA! Coffee lovers this for you! Poplar’s is the only place in the USA where I have had a cappuccino of the same quality and taste as in Italy and other parts of Europe. I am not exaggerating. They roast their own beans in house making coffee taste like it should…simply divine. Selection of teas are also just as lovely! Couldn’t recommend more!

We stopped by early for breakfast sandwiches and teas. Our food and teas were freshly and accurately prepared. Our food was very tasty and the host was pleasant. I’m glad we had a chance to stop in and I look forward to returning.

We’ve stopped in for coffee a few times and always enjoyed what we’ve ordered. This morning we also got breakfast sandwiches, and they were excellent! Everything was made fresh, and the eggs were cooked just right. Such a great addition to Main St!

We’ve been in 3 times and love the coffee, the chai tea latte is the best I’ve ever had, the bagel sandwich was delicious and so were the cookies. We talked to Angela a long time and really admire her for what she’s done with everything! The decor is so cool! She’s a very nice lady and having read reviews about her being rude is surprising. We never saw that. All the reviews of 1 star….. my husband and I never witnessed any of those things. Maybe people need to sit and relax more and not be in such a hurry. And maybe they need to be a little nicer. ♀️

Today as my wife and I were leaving Farmville we decided to stop and get breakfast and coffee. There were 2 options in the downtown area and I’m not sure why but I decided to go to Poplar Sips. I say this because I am an avid review reader (not very good at leaving reviews) and the other coffee place had better reviews. My guess an act of God. Anyway we walked in and the place was gorgeous inside. There was a 7 top and another 2 top in the restaurant. We ordered our food with Angela the owner. She wasn’t super personable during the ordering process but answered my question about a coffee and gave a recommendation. I could see that she was super busy as she was the only person working. I didn’t think anything of it really. She said it might be a min. We let her know we were in no hurry and sat and waited. We had a little wait but honestly I don’t even know how long it was. Our food came out hot, fresh, and super delicious. My wife ordered hot chocolate and loved it. I’ve never heard her say that. She’s a bit of a hot chocolate snob. I ordered a affogato b/c I’ve never heard of it nor had one. When Angela told me what it was and recommended the Oreo coffee ice cream for it I was in. It was delicious! While I was waiting I decided to read through all of the reviews. They were not good. I can assure you, you won’t be disappointed with your food or coffee here! We are huge foodies and cook and bake often. Everyone cleared out while we were still eating and we got to talk to Angela. It was a great talk, I picked her brain a little bit about where she gets her coffee among other things. This encounter left me feeling inspired. Not because we had some deep conversation with a restaurant owner but because this single (not relationship related) black woman was brave enough to take a risk and go after her dreams! Angela is running that restaurant on her own and serving quality food while doing it. She is doing what most of us are too scared to do including myself. I have big dreams of cooking and baking with my wife and either having a restaurant, food truck, or catering events. We are trying to get started but if I’m being honest I’m terrified! Angela might have been scared too but she went for it anyway. Angela, I just want to thank you for the really great food, coffee, and hot chocolate this morning and also let you know I’m proud of you. I’d love to pick your brain more about starting a food business of my own. To all possible patrons of this place know that Angela’s food and drinks are well worth the wait!

Starting off, the atmosphere was great! Beautiful coffee shop with so much potential to be great in other aspects. Waited 30 minutes for a coffee and sandwich. Claimed she knew how to make a shaken espresso iced coffee for me, the coffee was frozen and then proceeded to argue with me about the facts of that. Never have I argued with a server or been argued with. The lady behind the counter claims she is the owner of the shop, if this is the case you should be informed and taught how to prepare the coffee options that are listened on your menu. There were many rude remarks made and I won’t be returning.

54 minutes, and $21. For an iced latte and a basic sandwich.
The latte came out first after 24 minutes.
The sandwich arrived second after 54 minutes.
For $13 of the $21 – the Firebird sandwich was pitiful. One single piece of turkey.
The service is cold, you can’t see a menu until it’s time to order, and the owner is uninterested in speaking to customers.

Completely appalled by the way the OWNER treated my friend and I. We ordered shaken espressos and were given frozen coffees. We told Angela that it wasn’t what we ordered, and she proceeded to argue and insult our intelligence. Ended up getting a refund, but still very disappointed in the lack of customer service and apology. The shop itself is beautiful and homey.

Walked in, cashier completly ignored us on while talking on her cell phone. Then paused her conversation to tell us to stop having our kids scoot on the benches. Since we were never asked for service we then walked out and tried uptown coffee which was amazing and great customer service.
