I’m perpetually nervous when it comes to trying “new” sushi restaurants, but I’m beyond delighted we gave Tanaka Sushi a try. This is truly top-tier sushi. Some of the best we’ve had in a longggg time. The prices are reasonable, the fish is excellent, and the rice isn’t an inch thick (which I really appreciate). The food feels thoughtful and comforting, like the kind of Japanese cooking that’s made quietly, with intuition and care. Not flashy, just genuinely delicious and made with love. Thank you for an incredible lunch!! We will be back and we’re bringing the whole family

Stop by here after a stroll at the Morton Arboretum on a hot day! It’s a self-service small casual place with good quality food. No tipping required is awesome We ordered Tanaka Box that came with fresh big sashimi and nigiri, the spicy tuna roll had a real kick which I love. The Volcano roll is baked and is done well. Bibimbap was on point, too. I would stop by again next time we come to the arboretum.

Our pick up order was not nearly ready on time. Sushi was not good, we love to try spicy tuna at every sushi place and I’m not sure what that even was. All the prices were steep, which I don’t mind paying for quality, but I didn’t eat half my meal.

This place is great. The prices are extremely reasonable and the staff is friendly. The food is also very good. I always get something different and I’m always pleased with the taste of the food.
Update: I wrote this 8 years ago. Tons of restaurants fail, Tanaka is still around. The food is still excellent and I think this is some of the best Korean and Japanese food around.

This is a hidden gem. Every dish was prepared super hot and delicious. The sushi was fresh and paired with excellent drizzle of dressing! The restaurant is very clean. Decor and setting is very simple, but food is excellent!
You order your dishes at the front counter. They’ll call your number when your dishes are ready, so pretty much self-service.

I have eaten at Tanaka Sushi once or twice a month since 2021, and they consistently serve the best Japanese and Korean food in the Naperville/Lisle area. I am a sushi snob, and their sushi is always fresh and well-prepared. Their cooked dishes are always served piping hot and delicious, well-plated, and the portion sizes are great for the price. The employees clearly have a tight-knit work environment, and they are all always polite. I cannot recommend this restaurant more. You will never regret a Tanaka Sushi lunch.

bought sushi from this restaurant, and the sushi itself was decent. However, the young woman at the front register is consistently unfriendly and comes across as rude. It feels uncomfortable, especially since she seems more polite to non-Korean customers than to those who appear Korean. I’ve heard similar feedback from others, which unfortunately makes me hesitant to return.

We looked up on Google four yrs ago, great review so we stopped by.
At first we were worry, because when we were talking up we saw two party walking in and they were None asian… Normally any Asian restaurant has many Non Asian mean they r no good lol
But we thought hey we are here already let’s still try. Upon entering, all table taken all are asian we were like THANK GOD this place gonna ROCK
It didn’t disappoint! Sushi were great, all dished were great!
During covid19, we ordered probably twice a week from there because we want make sure they survive lol
I would say that, before covid19, the price was very reasonable, actually I consider them cheap lol. After covid19 there r alot more expensive but good still very very good!
