The food and service were both wonderful! The food came almost immediately after being ordered, and the owner was very lovely and kind.

Forewarning- Authentic cultural places tend to reflect the area they come from service wise.- In many Asian services, they keep interactions to a minimum- you need help, you say something or wave. (A lot of the bad reviews specify service.)
We came on a Monday a little after one. Was greeted as we came in and sat.
The menu is quite large with minimal descriptions and an obvious cultural pallete. The last page out of 8~ has Americanzied food for the local pallete.
We ordered crab Rangoon, sweet and sour pork short ribs, teriyaki chicken, and seasme chicken. All entrees come with white rice ( which was perfect)
The short ribs fell off the bone easily!
They bring food as plate is done, not by group plates order finish.
10/10 will come back and try out the hot pot.

We ordered 3 entrees and 2 appetizers for our family. We only liked one of the entrees, and the appetizers were good enough, but nothing special. The dish we liked was one of the more authentic ones apparently, so maybe that’s why it was better? We got Szechuan chicken, which is apparently an “American” option—odd at the Szechuan house?! That was definitely not a fav. Overall, expensive dishes that we didn’t enjoy very much. We spent plenty of money we wish we hadn’t. The place also wasn’t very kid friendly. Unfortunate, because my husband had lunch here once before and enjoyed it. Maybe it’s better for lunch?

I legitimately ran to leave this review. THIS PLACE IS . Was in town for work and this spot was down the street, I heard about it before coming and was excited to see how it held up to my favorite hometown restaurant…honestly, blew it out of the water which is crazy for me to say. This place is absolutely on point and would highly recommend it. *Not pictured was the General Tso’s Chicken and Chicken Fried Rice which were also amazing.

A modern atmosphere and a good selection of authentic Chinese dishes. The staff are great. I think this is the only authentic Chinese restaurant in the Iowa City area. I particularly like their dry spicy sautéed intestine, as well as the lion head meatballs.

I ordered to go. Waited at least 20 mins. Totally skimped me I ordered classic sesame chicken all but 3 pieces were all breading hardly filled the container the white rice had black specs In it. The chicken was so crunchy it tasted almost burnt & the whole container was just sauce. No wonder why they aren’t busy

Excellent location for traditional Chinese and Hot Pot cuisine. The “hot” soup is loaded with chili peppers so be ready. Crab rangoin are sweeter than most Asian restaurants.

By far the most authentic szechuan food we have had in the Midwest! We specifically stop in Iowa city when driving from Florida to Minnesota for this restaurant.
