The only way I can explain how good this broth is that it’s crack. The first sip you have the rush of beautiful sweet beef favours that you don’t really need to add anything else to the soup. It is the best pho I have ever had. Service is no nonsense just get what you want.

Best Phở restaurant in the world! Very balanced broth. I usually get the beef special which has the peppery sausage medallion (dồi), very few places do it. Today I tried chicken special for a change and discovered they make the sausage for that too!

Pho Hung Vuong Saigon: A Restaurant I Cannot Pronounce but Deeply Love

There is a Vietnamese restaurant in Springvale, with a sibling in Clayton called Pho Hung Vuong Saigon, a name I pronounce differently every time, usually accompanied by wild hand gestures and the hope that someone will take pity on me. But pronunciation difficulties aside, the place is wonderful.

It’s simple. Comforting. The décor hasn’t changed in years, possibly decades, which I actually appreciate, especially in an era where cafes redecorate every six months just to stay relevant. Here, the tables and chairs say, “We’ve seen things. Sit down and eat.”

My usual order is always the same: broken rice with two enormous pork chops. Not one pork chop, the minimum-effort, half-hearted offering you get at other places, but two, like they’re trying to apologise on behalf of every restaurant that’s ever let me down. The portions are so generous I once wondered if they’d made a mistake, but no, this is tradition, generosity, and possibly an act of charity all rolled into one plate.

The pho is delicious; fragrant, rich, and restorative. The kind of pho that could cure heartbreak, hangovers, and perhaps even bad decisions if consumed in sufficient quantity.

And the place itself?

An institution. A landmark. A culinary cornerstone of suburban Vietnamese dining.

People come, slurp, leave, and return again like a spiritual ritual, except with bean sprouts.

Everything about it feels honest, earnest, and unpretentious. No theatrics. No Instagram gimmicks. Just good food, fair prices, and the comforting knowledge that you’ll never leave hungry or emotionally unfulfilled.

Solid recommendation.

Great food. Big portions. Consistent. And if you ever learn to pronounce the name correctly, please let the rest of us know, we’ve been suffering in silence.

Wanted to try this place as we very much like the one in Springvale. Food tasted as good as Springvale so it was great. For some reason it took a while for our phos to come out which is unusual for pho.

Would like to see the toilet getting more cleaning as it was filthy and can definitely be cleaner for overall better experience.

Genuinely top 3 pho places of Melbourne, their meat is fresh and their broth has so much flavour and depth, sometimes quite busy + a line because of how good this place is! It’s a must try

Ok-ish for a cheap eat. Not the cleaniest place but w avg 17 dollars a bowl, you can look the other way. Bun bo was better than Pho. Can be too heavy with the MSG tho.

The pho here is very authentic and tastes excellent, especially the Beef & Chicken Special, which has a generous portion of chicken and beef, and the texture of pho is fantastic. The tea and iced drinks here are also well worth trying

There was a reason that there was a queue to get in for lunch on a relatively quiet day in this Clayton road restaurant. The Pho was incredible!!!! If you are going to base everything around one dish … do it well.. and they do it VERY well. My first time dining out in Clayton, and if this little gem is anything to go by, it will not be my last. We had the rare beef and the chicken…. Both were excellent and definitely highly recommended.

Pho is the only menu, with different toppings. One of the best tasting pho in Melbourne. Or arguable in Australia. The brooth was very tasty, clear but very aromatic and flavorful. Ordered the medium size Pho, and it was more than enough for me. Service was basic, but get the jobs done. Prices were reasonable for what you get. Recommend!
