What a great experience! I don’t give 5 stars easily, but this place deserves it! The staff here are outstanding and the food is excellent. I can say I had one of the best salmon cakes here! Delicious! Delicious! Delicious! The pork chops eere also on point, as well as their shrimp. Everything was soooo flavorful! Highly recommend!

Absolutely love this restaurant if you’re looking for good soul food made from scratch this is the place to go. They have amazing catfish serve different ways, traditional style fried blackened or Cajun style which is what I had. I also had the collard greens cabbage red beans and rice
My wife got the barbecue boneless chicken along with the mac and cheese which my wife said was the best she ever had.
Stop with super friendly very knowledgeable about the area, recommended a clothing store for me the fashion warehouse.

Freshwaters is a breath of “fresh air.” A cozy little establishment that feels like an older family member’s home. There is an aroma of wonderful southern style meals coming from the kitchen, jazz music playing, and jazz/black inspired art along the walls.
We sat immediately upon arrival and given a menu. There was plenty to choose from. From southern comfort meal to New Orleans Classics!
Pricing was reasonable, and you get a bang for your buck with the portion sizes.
There is plenty of parking out front.
The serves was good. We were checked on often, and even an older lady who believed was the owner came to check on us, asked how our meal was, and informed us of all the upcoming events this little establishment plans to do in the future.
All in all, I definitely would come back and bring family; I know they’ll love it. So, will you if you’re looking for some good soul food or New Orleans classics a little closer than traveling to the city itlself.

So it’s February 9th 2025. I wanted to try to experience a lil black history for my dine in. I’m in Charlotte NC. I attempted several times today to find an authentic black owned southern soul food restaurant to enjoy with reviews and all. After looking within 10 different places, I came across this place called freshwaters. I asked questions to other customers before I sat and ate. So you know I mean business on this review. This one is very important to me. So beginning before I sat down I got a peaceful and welcoming greeting. The decor is very graceful here. Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves here. It’s not just an eating experience here. It’s more than that. The feeling I get here is greatness in people. Investing in people and not just a dollar. Now to the food. Everything taste great. It’s not riddled with salt. It’s flavored greatness. I spoke with the owners here and had one of the greatest conversations with owners of food restaurants I have had in a long time. I finally found a great spot if not then the greatest. What more can I say. I’m glad I didn’t give up in finding authentic black owned greatness on black history month. I am greatly proud and pleased to be here today. Thank you. Fantastic food. Fantastic people. Fantastic atmosphere. And fantastic experience. I urge and recommend everyone come out and try freshwaters. Happy black history yaw. Let’s continue to support our black business owners. Especially spots like this one. AS’E

Come on Empty, because the food is Momma’s Sunday delicious, comforting and filling. Try the grilled pork chops, salmon, beef ribs, greens, yams and mac & cheese. OMG So Good! The desert (bread pudding & peach cobbler) is a must take home. If the parking is filled in front and the middle, park in the back of the restaurant.

The food is delicious. However the service could be a little better. I understand the establishment is ran by elderly people but it does not give you the right to look down on those who are younger than you are. I walked in with my husband after church and the woman who I presume is the owner did not even speak. Although she spoke to others who were older coming in and out of the restaurant. She also began to profusely spray FEBREEZE in our direction while we waited on our to go order. I have bad allergies and I can’t use certain air fresheners which is why I don’t sit down at restaurants. Also, she was talking about us to another customer at the bar to another big elderly woman who also didn’t mind sending us nasty looks. Idk if she was implying that we smelled or what but that made me feel really uncomfortable!

This is one place that I will never attend again. The food is not all that…
I can’t eat certain foods…I asked if the cabbage was really sauteed and I had to send it back and low and behold a woman came to my table and questioned me about it and literally argued with me about the return I had to wait until I could get a word I had to raise my voice to get on her level and see explain to her that the cabbage was too overcooked … take your chances and please plan to wait… even though we were told several times that it was coming it was ridiculously late…

Looking for an intimate location where the food takes you back to The Big Easy, try Freshwaters. The restaurant offers a variety of options that please the palette and soothe the soul. Mrs Fresh put lots of love into this one and you can tell from the great customer service that staff take pride in what they do!! Today was take out and even after driving home our food was hot. Next time will be dine in for sure. This gets the Creole stamp of approval.
