Our first time trying this restaurant. Found it on Google. Despite the strong germanic heritage in the Pennsylvania area, there are not a lot of good German restaurants.

This place is situated in the marina that has seen better days. The waitress and the Chef were very personable and they have plans to renovate. We went on one of the icy cold days in the winter and the heat could not keep up. It could use some repainting, but if they are planning to renovate, I understand it.

We had loaded potato pancakes, which was an interesting take on a traditional dish. As I recall, it was topped with bacon, onions, and cheese. Potato pancakes were good with a classical taste, and probably would have been better without the topping. I am sure, however, that for most folks this iteration was better.

I had a wurst platter with four varieties. All of them were quite good. Probably some of the best german centric sausage that I’ve had recently.

The schnitzel was disappointing. It was dry and seemed to be deep-fried instead of pan fried. The spaetzle that accompanied was also unremarkable.

There is plenty of parking and we had no trouble finding it using Google maps.

Found this place on google map, Decided to give it a try. Ok it’s in a Marina that in winter looks well dusty. Walked in and the waitress was warm and inviting. The food is delicious. The place is cozy and quiet in winter. The chef was super nice and friendly as well. We definitely will be back!

We just enjoyed dinner here tonight. Since I’m part polish & german the menu looked delishish. They play what sounds like polka music while you dine. I had the polish sampler my wife had the potato pancakes. We both agreed our food was very good. Also to get a $38 bill for dinner at a restaurant in NJ is unheard of these days. Its ashame its located in a marina that has seen better days. However I’ll be back soon and bringing friends.

I thoroughly enjoyed my six sausage platter beside a gorgeous view of the Rancocas Creek at the Best of the Wurst restaurant, tucked away behind the Lightning Jack’s marina in #Riverside, #NJ. From left to right: kielbasa, weisswurst, knackwurst, wurstchen, old world sausage, and bratwurst, all sourced from a butcher in Philadelphia. The haus-made buttery spaetzle and tangy sauerkraut made the meal, and the Düsseldorf mustard is a must. This authentic German-American menu has everything from an old family recipe for turtle soup to a JagerSchnitzel hoagie made with pork schnitzel and mushroom gravy on a long roll. It’s an out of this world hidden gem. I visited 7/19/25. Check them out! #INeverSausageaHotDog

First visit to Best of the Wurst German Kitchen, a hidden gem at 625 Harrison St. in Riverside, behind Lightning Jack’s Marina, on the Rancocas Creek. Gorgeous waterside views on an absolutely beautiful night, highlighted by some spectacular food.

For appetizers, we requested they go extra, extra spicy on an order of mussels, and the heat level was intense. Didn’t count the shells, but there must have been 3 dozen mussels, with sliced kielbasa, a rich, savory tomato-based broth, and a delicious loaf of bread. Loaded potato pancakes are extra crisp, and covered with sour cream, bacon, red onion, and Gruyere cheese, with a side of apple sauce.

For dinner, we had their Polish Cheesesteak, which is ground kielbasa, and served with their haus-made cheese sauce on a long roll. Indescribably good. Served with fries that were very crisp without having to ask for them being well-done.

Their B.O.T.W. Roast Beef is sliced sauerbraten, with Fontina cheese melted over it, and covered in ginger snap gravy, and it’s possibly the best sauerbraten I have ever eaten. The sauce is outstanding, and I wish that I had a gallon of it, right now.

My husband has been wanting German food for ages now and so we popped by Best of the Wurst in Riverside.

Super friendly staff and delicious food. Chef came out and chatted us up a bit. Was really nice. Server was super attentive and friendly.

Started with the mac & cheese, husband had pork schnitzel and I had a cheesesteak that instead of steak they use chopped kielbasa! (It was salty and cheesy and absolutely delicious).

I plan on coming back again to try some more dishes.

Cash only but they do have an ATM inside.

I went here with my sister and her family after we spent a day at the lake. It was nice to get a seat on the deck overlooking the water. The waitress was very talkative and nice. They were out of a few things but they were the popular German dishes and starters. We did come later in the day so it can be expected. For starters I got German macaroni and cheese which was delicious. Definitely worth getting if they run out of potato pancakes. My sister and her boyfriend got perogies they said it was very good. My niece and nephew got burgers and fries which they loved. I got the best of the wurst platter. It was like a little taste of Germany trying the different meats. The owner was very social walking around talking to the customers. For desert I got sheet cake and it taste amazing, I was very pleased. Overall it was a very nice experience and it was nice to try something different.

A best kept secret in South Jersey!
Truly affordable waterfront dining featuring exceptional German fare overlooking the Rancocas Creek. The cuisine is traditional with high quality ingredients, expertly (real chef) prepared and such an outstanding value! It’s also a BYOB which is an added plus.

German “Mac & cheese” with spatzel delicious. Homemade perogies spot on. The German pancake appetizer is a must! The classic Sauerbraten was outstanding. The Pork schnitzel was perfection. The plank salmon tasty and simple.
But, the star selection was the smoked pork chop special with gruyere, ham and fried egg. Fantastic! Kudos to the chef.

Warm & friendly service with attention to detail.

Don’t be fooled by the humble “bric a brac” decor of the dining room (you don’t eat decor). The real atmosphere and character of this place is the beautiful view of the Rancocas. Although the Rancocas is not the Rhine, the quality of the food, view, value and service are well worth the trip! A unique and very pleasant dining experience.

Cash only.

We can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu and dessert!

Wilhelm and staff were amazing helping us put together an authentic German celebration for our students at Brookfield Academy. We were team Germany for our school Olympics and we wanted to connect our kids to German culture. Wilhelm put a menu together for us and even participated in a Q&A video to answer our students’ questions! Thank you so much – we truly appreciate it!
