Great dive bar with one pool table and a nice back patio. They play movies and spin vinyl while you chat with friends and enjoy your drink.

Don’t let its rough-edged exterior (or interior, for that matter) scare you away: Mad Hanna is a low-brow dive with high-class cocktails and service, that has been abused (lovingly) by its patrons and proprietors. It knows what it is, and what it wants to be. Devoid of all pretentiousness, Mad Hanna is the sort of place where you also can come as you are, be who you want to be, without judgment, surrounded by like-minded, liquored up individuals seeking refuge from our collective weekday demons. In short, the kind of place I’d like to visit more often.
Unlike most dives, you can get a fantastic, hand-crafted cocktail, that actually tastes like the drink you ordered, instead of the sort of watered-down, blasphemous amalgamation you’ll find elsewhere. You can also just order a beer or a White Claw and get “White Girl Wasted” without feeling guilty. During our visit, there was a DJ spinning an eclectic mix of pseudo-country music that I am still struggling to put a label on; regardless, we enjoyed it. The usual offenders of pool tables and gambling machines occupy most of the inner space, although I feel like they could be cleared to create impromptu dance floor at the drop of a hat. There’s also a semi-sequestered nook off to the right of the door, with comfy leather chairs and lit by twinkly lights, should you be in the mood(le) to canoodle.
Dog friendly, open from 11am until 2:30am, 7 days a week. Food available from the Hannex café kitchen next door, seemingly at all hours of operation.

Mad Hanna rules! Lots of comfortable and varied seating, both indoor and on the covered patio with heat lamps. I tried the sweet tea whiskey and it was really nice mixed with soda and lemon. There was a DJ spinning vinyl and slot machines, too!

Super rude bartender. She was mad how loud the music was that she set the volume to then turned it off after we payed money into the juke box. Once closing came she was extremely aggressive and mean kicking people out. Will never come back here.

I came here for thr first time recently and we loved it. Had a great time and we were a pretty large group on a Saturday but we were able to find an area to sit/stand and play pool. The bartenders were all friendly and they also have fun jello shots. Cocktails and beer are fairly priced too! Fun watering hole in the neighborhood. I’ll definitely stop by again if I’m in that area.

One of the few bars in Portland checking vax cards even if you’re just on the patio(s). Nice tap list, clean lines, great bartenders, and the dive vibe that I cherish.

Great bar to grab a quick, relatively cheap drink! There is almost always a live DJ in the evenings and they have board game and pool tables. There is also a large outdoor patio with heaters for the winter. It’s so fun and relaxing to enjoy a nice hot toddie by the fire now that it’s getting colder. They have boardgames and books for a relaxed bar experience.

Great back patio area with lots of seating plus they’ve got covered seating out front as well now. Proof of vaccination required to sit indoors. Dogs allowed outdoors. Super rad staff and great drink selection. Food is tasty. Best hand washing sign ever.
