TL;DR: Old school Italian deli with top notch sandwiches, friendly staff, and the best Italian sub you will find in Baltimore County.
I have been a longtime fan of the DiPasquales family businesses, from their classic Italian markets in Baltimore to their new speakeasy style restaurant, Forno. Living in the county, I have always known about Mastellone’s but somehow forget that it delivers the same amazing quality as the more modern DiPasquales locations. I finally made the trip to grab a weekday lunch and could not have been happier with my subs.
The shop sits along a busy stretch of Harford Road, so be ready to parallel park quickly or find a nearby side street and walk over. Inside, it is everything you want in a true old school Italian deli. No frills, just shelves full of authentic Italian groceries, a big cold case with sauces, side dishes, desserts, and even a solid wine selection to take home.
I ordered the Old World Italian sub, made with sopressata, capicola, prosciutto, fontinella cheese, olive tapenade, tomato, and a drizzle of EVOO on a toasted fresh baked roll. It was absolute perfection. The meats were thinly sliced and perfectly layered so that every bite had the full mix of flavor and texture. Salty, a touch spicy, and incredibly satisfying. At twelve dollars, it is the ideal price point for a weekday lunch that feels like a treat.
The staff could not have been nicer. They were friendly, efficient, and you can tell they take real pride in what they do. Overall, Mastellone’s is everything you want in a neighborhood Italian deli and absolutely worth the trip for anyone chasing elite level hoagies.

MASSIVE meatball sub. Hollowed out half Italian loaf, STUFFED with meatballs, sauce, and provolone. Is it going to leak out all over the place? Hell no! They scoop out the insides, stuff the interior with all that goodness, then plug the end with cheese and the soft interior part of the loaf, welding it all shut with cheese- you can’t beat that. Also- sandwich was VERY well priced, and the double espresso to go with it was just right (and only $2.50). Edit- forgot to mention the toasted bread CRUNCH! It was outstanding, perfect
Staff was great, service was excellent. If you’ve driven by and wondered what the heck it’s like in there- stop, go in, and treat yourself.

Probably my favorite bread and marinara in the city. Best Italian cold cut I’ve ever had. The meatball sub is so large it’s logistically difficult to eat. A+++, must visit

Hands down best deli sandwiches! I’ve tried several different sandwiches, snacks, and cookies from them and they’re all great! If you haven’t had one of their sandwiches yet, you should go now!

Needed real Italian bread for dinner with the in-laws. Grabbed lunch too. The meatball subs, with homemade mozzarella, were huge (2 of us could have shared it.) The eggplant was tender on the eggplant sub. Lots of goodies, wine, pasta. Definitely a new favorite spot.

This place is phenomenal. The staff is super helpful and friendly. Great vibes. Fresh made Mozzarella, sausages, and bread are fantastic. Great selection of wines. The prosciutto is ridiculously good. They also have a bunch of other great stuff all reasonably priced.

Fantastic Italian cold cut. Parking isn’t too bad since the street was reconfigured. Definitely get a cannoli, and leave with some Italian cookies!
