The burger? Exactly what it should be—no gimmicks, no trying to reinvent the wheel. Just juicy, messy, perfectly balanced, and hits that deep, primal “yeah… this is it” spot. Fries are crispy like they respect you. Even the whole vibe feels like it’s been grandfathered in from a better era of this city.
But let’s talk about Serena for a second.
Serena is the kind of person that makes a place unforgettable. Sharp, warm, funny without trying, and runs the show like she owns the block. You can feel that she actually cares—about the food, the people, the experience. That kind of energy is rare now… most spots feel like you’re just another transaction.
Not here.
You walk in a stranger and leave feeling like you’ve got a spot. That’s Serena.
We practically inhaled those burgers and the fries were so good, we got both the chilli cheese fries and the regular fries. They tasted great, nothing revolutionary or unheard of, just delicious. And this was all to go, unfortunately parking was abysmal. Be prepared to look.
Crispy French fries – 5 !
The burger landscape in Los Angeles is robust and bountiful. Irv’s is often on the top or near the top of many burger lists. My biggest burger regret is that it took me a long time to actually go and try them out. They’ve been open and serving their amazing burgers for a long time.
The burger was fantastic. It was high quality beef, meaty with a lot of flavor and expertly cooked. The cheese was melty and balanced the beefy flavors. I always like getting a burger the way the restaurant recommends it, and their style is a classic combo.
I think the Irv’s sauce is based on Thousand Island dressing. It was perfect.
They go with crispy, thin fries, and they serve a big basket. Of course I ate everything I ordered. How could I not when everything is this good!
I went on a Sunday and found street parking. This location may get tricky for parking other times of the day or week since it’s in a busy spot for restaurants and bars.
Irvs first Route 66 road stops with the original name of “Queens Burgers”. No one then would come to think how cherished it would become. And I’m so glad it is! The principle of this location is not the burgers as one would think. It’s love….and lots of patience for unruly customers. Through trials and triumph this franchise (and this particular spot historically) has been put through the wringer. It’s the community who came together to save this place and for very justified cause as I would too, riot, had I known Irv’s were to close down unfairly. Remember that“Just for you!” Truly is embodied in this place. Through each poster, news clippings, and photos, This place is a haven. It’s touched with nostalgia and a place to go with your friends when the bills are getting tough. This is a place where you KNOW that smash burger with the melted cheese has the best crisp to a warm bun is always coming out amazing. Pair that with their vanilla custard float and Crispy fries. By the way, they can make kicka$$ onion rings extra crispy. Just saying. I mean come on, it’s not rocket science people! As a regular after dealing with fires in Malibu and as well taking care of my parent alone in an SSDI case, this place brings me the most comfort for the food AND the staff. In which every time I come here they are always working hard to meet anyone’s expectations and they always deliver! Even personally, I believe any staff handling your food with integrity in an intense rush are the best people to get to know and to treat with more kindness and respect! Serena, Lilly, Joey, and all staff (sorry I can’t remember all names at the moment) I want to sincerely thank for their natural talent at their craft and to manage multitasking between dine-ins and take-outs. You have seen me out through my darkest moments and know how to keep it compassionate in a human-human way rather than being fake corporate about it. You guys are awesome!
Sincerely,
Lina Goldsmith and Mila Cortez
