First time visiting and my wife and I had a great date! The oysters were on point (we even ordered a second half dozen!!) the lamb chislic was was really tasty, and the pork cheeks were delectable. My wife had the tuna crudo for her main, and it was a nice sized portion. Great cocktails, wonderful live music (one dude playing at a great volume, very nice ambiance) and exceptional food. The service was excellent too! Our server Rashel was very professional and at the top of her game. Thank you for a great evening, we will be back!

We came here for the first time on New Year’s Eve at 8 p.m. I liked that the host stand was outside of the front doors. There isn’t a huge interior design change between the prior Ode to Food and Rivage, it could use a little something extra for some visual pop. They had a separate and specific New Year’s Eve menu. The pheasant rillette was great, it would be nice to have a 4th piece for the price. Unfortunately, two of the entrées we were considering were already sold out. All of the food was excellent, the Turbot is a very light meal, so if you are very hungry, order additional food with it. The steak and potatoes were pretty amazing. The service was great and we waited an average amount of time for everything. The whipped chocolate mousse layers in the chocolate and raspberry cake was slightly hard and waxy, wasn’t a fan of it in that cake. The bloody mary is a house-made mix and was wake-you-up spicy in a shocking, but good way. Elevated food = elevated pricing. We will definitely be back.

Having dinner at this establishment is nothing short of an experience. The moment we stepped inside, we were greeted a thoughtful and detailed crew. We were sat and took in the ambiance. Modern, thoughtfully designed, With the heart of South Dakota in mind. It feels like a warm cabin.

What truly sets this restaurant apart for me was the devotion to South Dakota’s culinary roots. Rivage Oak has locally sourced ingredients. Very well described on the menu.
They are crafted with an artistic flair that’s both imaginative but familiar. The menu features an selection of high-end creations, including venison, perfectly aged steaks, tender chicken, and our South Dakota’s own pheasant. The great thing is they made sure to include good old-fashioned home cooked food for people of any taste.

For those seeking a great nightout with you and yours. This is your place. We will be coming back. Often.

I should start with I’ve traveled extensively, been to 46 states and I’ve had a burger in every state I’ve ever visited. I ate the buffalo burger and the flavor explosion in my mouth was easily the most robust I’ve ever tasted!! The bun was soft, it was amazing. Well worth the money and the walk outside by the river after eating was really really cool. I’ll be back.

Made a reservation for the day before Valentine’s Day. We arrived about 10 minutes early and were immediately greeted and offered the choice to wait in the lounge or grab a seat at the bar.

The hostess was warm, inviting, and set the tone right away. The bartender greeted us quickly; I ordered an Old Fashioned and my fiancée had a glass of wine. (Wine is wine—but the Old Fashioned was excellent.) Before we were even halfway through our drinks, our table was ready.

Our server greeted us promptly and was outstanding all night. We both ordered the filet with green bean almondine and garlic mashed potatoes. Everything was cooked perfectly—the steaks were spot on, the almondine had great texture and flavor, and the mashed potatoes were exactly what they should be.

To top it off, the owner stopped by our table to ask how everything was, which says a lot about the pride they take in the experience.

My only regret is not taking pictures—but that’s because we were too busy making memories. We’ll absolutely be back

I’ve had multiple great experiences at Rivage Oak. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating, which makes the atmosphere feel welcoming the moment you walk in.

The food is consistently good and the drinks are fantastic. Sitting at the bar is my favorite spot. There’s great service, great energy, and always a good time!

Newly redecorated from front of house through the kitchen. It’s stunning. Met the owner. So nice. Our server was training a lovely young lady (her 1st day) and they helped match a wine to the burger battle burger that was phenomenal. We also had the walleye cakes appetizer which was spicy but not too spicy and so yummy and creme brulee. I could bathe in that stuff. They do have 3 patios for warmer weather outdoor dining. A bit pricey but the food is worth it. Great date place. We will go again.

My family and I went to Rivage Oak Kitchen, and it was truly one of the best dining experiences we’ve had. From the very beginning, the service and the food were exceptional.

We started with the pheasant rillette and walleye cakes, and they were absolutely phenomenal. The flavors were unique, well-balanced, and thoughtfully composed — every bite felt intentional. It left all of us completely satisfied right from the start.

The bison short rib stroganoff deserves a special mention — it’s the kind of dish you’d sell your soul for. The meat was unbelievably tender, literally melting in my mouth, rich and comforting yet elevated. My family was equally thrilled with their choices of steak and duck — everything was cooked to perfection.

The atmosphere surprised us in the best way possible. The music selection was outstanding and set the mood perfectly throughout the entire meal. It elevated the experience without overpowering it.

Service was a solid 10/10 — attentive, detail-oriented, and perfectly timed. We never felt rushed or forgotten. The cocktail and wine menu was marvelous, and the bartender’s recommendations were spot on.

We absolutely loved it and will be coming back again with more friends and family. Rivage Oak Kitchen feels like the root of culture — an explosion of flavor paired with the beauty of an incredible atmosphere. Highly recommended.

We celebrated our 18th anniversary here last night. We always try to go to a new or “new to us” place where we can truly dine on great food and drinks. It’s the one time of year we don’t pay attention to prices or limit ourselves. We each had a couple cocktails — loved the SD Manhattan & Cabernet Negroni. We had the bread & oil — solid. Raw oysters — delicious, but we did have 2 that were not loosened appropriately & found a small piece of shell in 1. Entrees we’re stellar — LOVED the coulotte steak with truffle butter. Cooked to med rare perfection and had great flavor with the truffle butter! Ribeye also cooked perfectly & had decent flavor. We think the ribeye just didn’t stand out because we also had the coulotte in front of us Mashed potatoes & asparagus also earned a solid shout out. Desserts — creme brulee was delicious! We also ordered sticky toffee pudding, which I’d seen numerous pics online. What we received looked completely different. We did confirm with the waitress that it was the toffee pudding. It was cake, which if it was the pudding, it just needed more liquid/pudding to make it more gooey. We ate nearly all of it, so it was good — just a little disappointed it didn’t look at all like the gorgeous pics I’d seen. All in all we loved it, were happy with our celebration dinner & would recommend to friends!
