I appreciate what Conejo does with their menu having many different flavor profiles with variety and craft. I tried the chicken with green mole, and I thought the chicken was well cooked, the mole very flavorful. I also tried the pork belly which was flavorful and paired well with the beans and tortillas. The Baja fish taco was probably my favorite of dinner options though. Dessert was amazing, with the Horchata Cheesecake, the flavor was so good every bite was eaten.
Overall I enjoyed this meal, although I found the chicken to be extremely salty, and the pork belly to be a bit too crunchy/dry. The plantains were also fairly dry. This is something that didn’t impact my review, but I really wish the seats at the high tables had backs, they were fairly uncomfortable for a sit down restaurant

A very up scale mexican food. Very lovely and the food was delicious. Maybe offer more items but at the same time. I had a great time there for dinner. With a friend as well. Since she and I been wanting to try it out for awhile now.

Late breakfast, early lunch, this is a great stop. Bright, roomy, with great drinks and good food. The breakfast burritos and tacos were perfect (and they tasted good the next day). We appreciate the friends who recommended we eat here before leaving Richmond. Caution, the salsas are hot so taste sparingly.

I had the Broccoli and Suadero tacos and their yummy guacamole. The meat in the Suadero was cooked perfectly and the broccoli had just the right amount of kick to it. Being the Friday before Valentine’s Day, it was busy even at lunch. The service was excellent, albeit very slow because it was so busy. I definitely recommend making a reservation. Great place for tacos and burritos!

This was the best meal. Every dish was amazing. I had two tacos and we shared the sweet potato side which was by far the standout. We had a large party but everyone was singing their praises. This is a popular place for birthdays we observed last night.

One note was that when we arrived the hostess pointed out that we had to leave by a certain time even though we had a reservation. We were done with forty minutes to spare cause the food came out fast.

Food was just okay; I don’t think it’s worth the prices on the menu, especially for how small the portions are. I appreciated their mocktail and cocktail options; I had a very delicious mocktail. I resonate with another reviewer that it seems like the side dishes are better than most of the main courses; the esquires and the guacamole were very well made. I just cannot justify the prices for the size of the tacos or the open faced quesadillas. The interior is colorful and fun and has a very bright and clean aesthetic. It is very trendy inside and i appreciated the decor. We had a larger party and our waitress was friendly at first but overwhelmed at best and didn’t hide her disdain by the end of the night. I will go again to try more dishes but I don’t think this would be my first choice for white American Mexican food.

Been on our ToEat list long time, thanks to its richly deserved awards on several local magazine recommendations. Amazing service and menu – kudos. Finally made it here on a sunny nice Valentine’s Day for a family lunch at 230. Of course that’s their closing time though folks were eating all the way thru 330. That didn’t deter us. We spent the next 2 hours waiting in the area. Treats from the pastry shop and a sandwich from the grill for the hungry souls.

We had no reservations and snagged a dinner table just after they opened up. Boy it got so busy by 5 and mostly couples for the day. Very different menu options from what we’re used to. Loved the variety of vegetarian options. How can we not order the salsa de molcajete at a Mexican place especially with the tres salsas on the house? Different tortilla chips too and they even got refilled, though we didn’t expect it.

I picked the cactus sope – never had one before and las costras – the mushroom+leek one. Sope very tasty, though a little different from the ones we have had in a food truck outside Bhavani. Teen girl hit on the pollo con piña version of las castras. Wifey chose the plato redondo. Cilantro rice, black beans yum. Enjoyed the la pluma drink as a grapefruit aficionado. Now Conejo makes it our special dining place choices.

Since everything was great, I had to get the jackfruit special to go, as I am not sure when we will come again 🙂 The burritas de chilorio tasted great at home and now I realize it’s got pork in the chilorio as I look it up online. I don’t recollect now if they said specifically if it’s got meat when we asked them. To their credit, the menu says V+, which means it can be made vegetarian – a lesson for me.

Didn’t enjoy my last meal here that much. The tres leches cake is overwrought.

Love the decor inside, very bright and cheerful.

The selection of salsas, both the complimentary ones (more like condiments) and the appetizer portion are really bright flavors and nice amount of heat.

I love the sides, especially the beans and rice and the roasted sweet potatoes. The latter has a kind of complex flavor blending heat, coriander and sweet. It’s one of my fav things!

Be aware that the salsa fundido with chorizo is so rich and filling that I could eat this by itself, not as an appetizer.

The staff is very perceptive and friendly.

Went to Conejo as part of restaurant week and was impressed by the service and the food. It is one of those places where sometimes the sides out match the main part of the dish. Loved my queso with chorizo but the chips were lacking somehow on taste. For my main was a cochinita pibil which had a very tender pork belly but the refried beans and homemade tortillas were the stars. For desert there was no choice between the tres leches or chocolate mousse, which the tres leches was very good. Our server Colin was attentive but not frequent in his checking in at our table. The biggest problem I had was just how loud it was. Hard to have a conversation without raising voices, but would recommend at least a try for other folks.
