The festive spirit of Christmas isn’t just alive here it’s doing a full-on jingle bell mic drop. From the moment you walk in, there’s holiday cheer, twinkly decor, and enough Christmas vibes to make the Grinch start tipping baristas.
But the best part? The Spirit of Christ is brewed into every cup. Bible verses on the cups, hand-drawn Scripture on the sleeves this place is basically caffeine powered Sunday school. And I’m here for it.
The coffee? Delicious. The atmosphere? Joyful. The message? Loud and clear “Caffeine and Christ will get you through the day.”
Whether you’re a coffee lover, a Christmas fanatic, or just someone who enjoys their lattes with a side of salvation, Joyful Java is a must-stop.

Absolute jewel of coffee culture in the cornfields of Iowa. Well worth getting off Highway 20. The location is a loving update to the towns historical gathering place of the towns drug store. I had my first hand poured sodas here as a child. Love that the stamped metal ceiling was retained.

This place is incredible. On a long road trip from Wyoming to Indiana and needed to stop – this place was an unexpected gem. Best coffee and even better food at a great price and not at the expense of tasting great! Hope to come back through Iowa just to stop here. Highly recommend!

Great to have in town. Nice selection of drinks and food. The shop itself is very cute and my kids like to go to the back room to do a puzzle or play cards.
Coffee is very good, have had a couple types of iced coffees and they were both great. My kids love the smoothie with whipped topping and sprinkles. Husband enjoyed the breakfast sandwich.

Very nice place to meet with friends! Bright and airy, nicely decorated,and staff was super nice. It was busy the morning we went, but food and drinks were served quickly and everyone in our group liked what they ordered (Cold coffees, hot tea, ice, tea, fruit smoothies, quiche, Dutch letters, avocado toast and grilled breakfast sandwich). I will definitely recommend Joyful Java to others!

The baked goods case is packed with options, but do yourself a favor and try the snickerdoodle cookie—warm, moist, and absolutely drool-worthy. I had the avocado toast too—the bread was perfectly crisp and hearty, the avocado spread was just okay, but honestly, for the price, it’s the kind of simple combo I don’t mind sharing (or watching my toddler drop on the floor).
Our summer nanny requested an iced vanilla latte, and my mom brain couldn’t make one more decision, so I just said, “Take two, please.” No regrets—the vanilla latte is sweet without being overpowering and still has that warm, rich coffee taste coming through.
Service was quick, the staff were so friendly, and I’ll definitely be back… probably tomorrow, let’s be honest.

Love the idea of supporting local but it feels very forced to stamp cups with bible passages in 2025. It made for an uncomfortable experience.
While a business can openly be religious it’s okay some find it off putting too.

What a beautiful job of renovating this old building into a lovely coffee shop! Just what the town of Dike needs! Awesome selection of coffee beverages, homemade breakfast & lunch options AND a fabulous selection of sweets.
