My wife and daughters loved their food. It was a shame because my son and I ate earlier and only had french fries. The food and service was amazing and the restaurant has a great view of the Swiss Alps. The waitress was very hospitable.

absolute perfection. what a stellar lunch experience we enjoyed at this completely refreshing surprise! give me its location. you would expect this to be as tourist trap as they come but not so go upstairs and eat in the dining room or out on the terrace you’re in for a wonderful experience. absolutely perfectly prepared dishes. some of the best calamari I’ve ever had. lovely service in this historic setting. and best of all, the price is a bargain for Swiss dining in much less a picturesque location.

On a day trip to Lucerne, we stopped by Restaurant Schwanen/Cafe De Ville for a coffee and pastry. The restaurant is second floor upstairs, the cafe is in the square outside the front door. Beautiful city, beautiful weather.
Outside was crowded so we opted for the restaurant. Gorgeous inside, old school European hotel flair. Great views from windows on the second floor!
The coffees and pastry (chocolate croissant) were good. Service was a bit hurried, likely because we were having coffee not eating lunch. Still, a nice experience. We’d go back!

Nice place to have coffee, tea, pie, lunch or dinner. The nostalgic decorations, furniture and atmosphere bring you back to the 60-ties / 70-ties. The view out of the window is beautiful. The dishes are fine but only ok for the price charged. Typical excellent Swiss cuisine. Very friendly staff, excellent service.

What a lovely place with great staff and delicious food. We were there for breakfast which was really lovely. Would definitely recommend! We weren’t lucky enough to get one of the tables with a spectacular view bit We thoroughly enjoyed it!

It’s easy to miss this amazing spot as it’s on the first floor. Super spacious restaurant with an outdoor space which is perfect for sunset. I tried their avocado sandwich, fruit bowl and latte. Server was super nice.

Living in Luzern, I’ve walked past Café de la Vie countless times, and it has been on my list forever, yet somehow I never made it inside until yesterday. My husband and I decided to finally visit to celebrate a special occasion and thought it would be the perfect spot for a quick lunch and coffee.
Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the moment we entered. We stood waiting at the entrance for a while, but none of the waiters acknowledged us or even made eye contact. We approached the bar, where the lady greeted us briefly, but she seemed extremely busy, and again nothing followed. Hoping for better luck outside, we walked to the terrace, where several tables were free, yet the waiters continued to pass by us without asking whether we needed help or had a reservation. Eventually, we realized that every table appeared to be reserved, though it wasn’t clearly communicated.
The entire situation made us feel uncomfortable and completely unwelcome. It’s a real pity, because the interior is beautiful and the terrace has a lovely atmosphere. Sadly, based on this visit, I wouldn’t return, as the service left a very negative impression for us overall today.

A really nice spot for lunch in Luzern. We had some delicious meals here. Well sone and Danke. The colorful salad with terriyaki chicken was excellent!
