Their pastry chef is hands down the best – never skip dessert here because it actually is incredibly imaginative and delicious.
Bartenders are super friendly and very knowledgeable about cocktails and wine pairings
To start, I ordered the Citrus & Tonic mocktail. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend it. Mine was about 80% ice, lacked flavor punch, and for the price, the portion of actual drink was disappointing compared to similar mocktails I’ve had at other restaurants in this range.
From the first course, I tried the chopped salad, which was fine but on the basic side and could have used a bit more flavor. On the other hand, the crab salad was exceptional—bright, fresh, and well balanced. I would absolutely order it again. I also had the smoked bluefish pâté, which I highly recommend. It comes with plenty of toast, so if you order this (or the crab salad, which comes with crackers), you can probably skip the Parker House rolls to avoid bread overload.
For my main, I had the Dijon herb half chicken from the Dine Out Boston menu. It was a generous portion, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor—definitely a highlight of the night.
Dessert was the bread pudding with malt custard, banana bread crisp, vanilla ice cream, and salted caramel. It was delicious but very rich—I couldn’t finish it.
Overall, despite a couple of misses (mainly the mocktail and salad), the food quality, and ambiance make Puritan & Company a five-star experience in my book. I’ll be back, and next time I’ll be sticking to their seafood starters and hearty mains.
Every dish tastes like it went to culinary grad school and graduated with honors. Bold, balanced, and dangerously delicious. The kind of food that makes you pause mid-bite and rethink your entire dining history. That mushroom pastry? Life changing.
Service was warm, intuitive, borderline psychic. Vibes are cozy, candlelit, effortlessly cool.
Five stars isn’t enough. Cancel your plans and go. Your taste buds deserve this.
Space is a bit dark and high ceilings.
