We have been eating lunch here about once a week for 3 years. The food, for us, is just ok. It is definitely NOT like my grandmother’s cooking. We really like the fried chicken livers, and pork chops. The vegetable sides are just ok, some better than others. Cornbread muffins are good. The last few weeks we have been hesitant to return, wife had catfish and within an hour she was throwing up, kind of turned us off. I saw a negative comment about the server Rhonda. She was pretty much the lone constant here, other than her, the servers changed weekly. In my experience a constant 90% turn over in staff has something to do with management. I will also note the Asian owner has a bad attitude.

We live in Monroe, Ga. and over in Cumming for a doctors appt. We just don’t have very many home cooking restaurants in our area. I googled home cooking near my appointment and saw Home Spun. It did not disappoint! I had the best beef tips and rice! Great flavor and the list of vegetables was endless! It was hard to narrow down to only two or three. I had enough food leftover to bring home for dinner! I highly recommend Home Spun! So delicious and the service was great! Family owned and so friendly! Best sweet tea, too!

Have been here multiple times, I keep trying to support local and I do like the place. But this weekend was over the top ODD. Outside waitress Jessica went 0 to 100 in a bad way and was adamant that our cheack started at 10:00 a.m. (we arrived at 12:30 for lunch). 3 other customers were shocked as well as she was yelling at us, but said it was typical behavior.

I love this place. They are quick to make my meal. They have usually six or seven different meat dishes and everything is made from scratch. It’s not crappy cafeteria food.

I’m very disappointed by our experience at Home Spun. We had high hopes because the last time we came back in June, we had a very sweet young lady as our server and the food was pretty good. We did not have the same experience this time around.
My family and I came in the other day and took forever to be greeted once we sat down. Our server, Rhonda, seemed to be in a bad mood and was rushing us right from the get-go. The food took a while to come out despite us being one of the only people in there. Unfortunately, we were underwhelmed by the food this time around (which took forever to come out), but it wasn’t the worst.
The worst part was the obvious drama within the restaurant. We were very put off by Rhonda fighting with one of the other servers and found it very unprofessional. When we got our check, we were overcharged. We didn’t feel like waiting another 15 minutes for her to fix it, so we just paid and left. I don’t usually leave negative reviews and we really wanted to support a local diner, but this needs to be addressed before they scare more people off. For now, we won’t be returning.

The food is really good and service is awesome. But the owner is rude to customers and his employees. Definitely in the wrong business and not a good thing.
