Went there for Brunch the food was good. I especially enjoyed the mimosa flight. The server the very nice and attentive. The atmosphere is very pleasant inside and outside in the beer garden.

One of the most disappointing food experiences we have had recently. Burgers are overpriced, seemingly made with pre-fab patties, and were charred beyond normal on the outside. Serving of fries was very small for the price. Had to actively ask for ketchup. Overall, disappointing burger experience. If you’re going to pay pushing $20 for a burger/fries, recommend taking your money to 22Bowens in Newport. Additionally, the water tasted as though it came straight out of the tap and was unfiltered; it did not taste very good. Just sad.

We were expecting a small space with basic sandwiches and wraps. We were pleasantly surprised at the beautiful dining room and full bar. Our family ended up having a beautiful dinner – braised short ribs for my wide, steak fries for myself, tempura chicken and flatbread pizza for the kids. We will definitely be back!

I was visiting RI to remember a very dear friend. My last night there I went to the Blue Anchor Grill and asked if I could order 6 crab cakes, raw, to freeze & smuggle home. (I live in Mexico.) I had a very nice clam chowder and some local wine while I waited. The handsome young waiter brought me 3 takeaway boxes with the crab cakes and all the accompaniments. I said Oh no, I only want the crab cakes, really well wrapped because I’m going to smuggle them home. He said I thought you were joking, Nope, not joking. Please wrap them like it’s heroin. He did, they made it to Mexico. I didn’t get fined $10,000 (which my husband informed me was a possibility) and I wasn’t deported. We had them last night and they were DELICIOUS!

We’ve wanted to try this place for a while and we went to brunch this past Sunday morning. The whole experience was great – the food and drinks were amazing, but the best part of all was our server, Lydia. She was pleasant and attentive but never made us feel rushed. In a world full of lackluster service, it was refreshing to have such a great server and experience. We’ll be back very soon, and we’ll be asking for Lydia!

So we’ve been hearing great things and trying to go for awhile.. Finally stars aligned today.. Amazing food and service! Tony our server (we sat at the bar) was amazing. Food incredible! Service was outstanding all around from the other staff also.. Inside is gorgeous. Very impressed will definitely be back!!

I have been to the Blue Anchor Grill quite a few times over the last few months. The food is excellent and the service has always been wonderful and considerate every time. Steak Frites and the Burgers/Tacos were awesome!
It is a great place to hang out and spend time with friends and family! Excellent patio and a good interior space. The interior renovations are great! It’s a beautiful place compared to the past restaurants that occupied the space. I’ll recommend Blue Anchor to all of my Family and friends. It’s certainly my favorite restaurant in Portsmouth.
