Come for the view and nice presentation of food. Surprised to find this restaurant in a residential area. Due to its strategic position in the middle of a hill, the restaurant harbors a grand view of San Mateo county from almost any direction. Adequate service, good food presentation. Just a decent place for some dinner celebration.

Nice view; the apertizers were out of this world; loved the chicken satay and stuffed mushrooms, i am definitely ordering them again; the meal itself was ok; but not stellar. But overall considering the experience its a 5 for me next time i would get appetizers and desert.

Some people have been critical of The Vans but honestly it’s not bad. Remember that it is not a fine dining experience but I would best describe it as American food. The service is great. The team really take care of you. Don’t judge the deco…the place has a lot of history. Enjoy the experience.

Vans is always wonderful. We go there when we need a good knife and fork meal. They pour solid drinks. Do t expect fancy but it is exactly what we have lost on the Peninsula over the last 30 years.

Very picturesque sitting on a hill looking down. Perfect location for dates. Food is tasty too. I ordered cheesesteak sandwich the meat are in slices instead of chopped strips. Everyone in my party are blown away with the food they ordered not one is disappointed.
Definitely a place to come back to.

Overall, a very nice dining experience. I was a bit disappointed that I couldn’t use Groupon for the special item. Like the meal combo I showed in the first photo. Be alert because you might end up paying out of your pocket.

We again had again a again great meal again. It was so good we asked Tiffany what’s a sweet tif the next night as she served this on top of a tip. This was the tif the Hon slyly arranged to the 20% showy tip my husband (who the hell is writing this sentence-tk-sentence hon? Anyway, hon makes everyone sees him give Tiffany in cash 20% (plus a $10 or $20 folded under).
He likes to say, “Maybe she can get an extra fiver that way,” real loud so all around at her tables can heaor (it’s your hearing no spelling .. nevermind) as he suddenly is unable to see or hear who’s around. Anyway, the 35 second syndrome of be 60 years older vanishes and we will never want to know by anyone who tells us the $ it got her and other servers. Hon arranged the to~go for her to take home (I know, but now I’m saying it).
Looks like lotta upkeep for 21 yr old pays her way to have. Feeding that nice gentleman she gave the meal too also, probably served him it too. So now we give her “the HOA” on of us hons calls it at the end of the month because it worthwhile investment.seeing we’s a knows how where it’s used (and it ain’t that place if she don’t own it – she don’t – but pays her own way there and elsey).

If you can/can’t afford ~ 21 to 26 = 4 years paying a youngn’ rent living expenses and everything else ~ wow ~ they spend money on nothing for too show (you’re sure all this grammerschool … me, I ain’t doing it ..) so four years later they have nothing, so you have four years of spending lots on nothing, you totally threw away $8,400 to $467,000 you knew waste. See, they need $$ for next month rent 4 year a later they’s a need (really, go over it again))
