This is really an unexpected good find . I was really skeptical of reviews that rate sushi highly in a non Asian country and this place has such mixed reviews . I had the Omakase platter and was spooked it’s 69.95. Plus the waitress couldn’t really explain the menu well and was quite confused . The chef was perpetually angry and shouting at his staff so it casted a stronger doubt . But boy, the sushi was really good – in terms of its cut , flavor and assembly. Certainly not your cookie cutter sushi restaurant in SF.

Ok so reading some of the reviews, I was a little skeptical. Yes, it’s dated. Yes, it’s slow. But it’s run by a couple that are very friendly and we’re very attentive. The food was hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious! I loved the traditional playing. It was hands down the best I have had in a long time. My hubby is a sushi snob and even he agreed it was amazing. I highly recommend it!
P.S. The fried bananas with caramel and ice cream for dessert was the bomb!

I normally don’t rate 1 star. Sorry that i had to. Roll was just OK. Nothing great about. The special croquettes was not so good either. It was just fried with stuffing was cold. The $25 uni was the worst. The color was brown ( it should be more like orange if fresh) and almost don’t want to eat.
I will try avoid if you can. It was just close to the hotel I stayed.

As soon as walking through the door you notice the place could use some renovations. The decor was simple, even though some of the best restaurants are simple. It had a nice ambiance; perhaps like a small local sushi spot in Japan. They were relatively busy for 8pm on a Wednesday but only had one server working. The server was nice and accommodating although clearly overworked as quite a few tables had to go up to the bar to order since no one came to their table.
I ordered a simple Alaskan Roll and Takka Roll. The Alaskan had good flavor and the fish was fresh. The tuna in the takka was perhaps a tad old. I finished my meal with a crunchy giant which looked amazing and had great presentation. I know I asked for a roll that’s tempura but it may have been cooked too long. Still tasted good and filled my belly.
It was a nice meal but Idk if I’d go back again.

This is the best Sushi place I ever been. The best Sashimi and best Japanese BBQ I ever had in my life. Strongly recommend the salmon skin hand roll. Love everything here.

Delicious, beautiful, friendly and attentive. The flavors were perfect, the artistry in the rolls was beyond what I expected or have experienced before. The tempura and grilled pork skewers were great. It was a little bit pricey, but it felt worth it.

The food is pretty great, I can’t complain. Freshly served and neat presentation. Had some miso soup and a Cherry Blossom roll with hot tea, and they were pretty good and just plain pretty. Portions are on the smaller side though, so be warned.
The atmosphere is not extraordinary, but it works well. It’s an unfussy place, didn’t seem very crowded. Service was good and, although not prompt, can’t complain.
There seems to be a large variety of rolls, with the traditional fare much cheaper than the special rolls. I went a bit fancy, but you can get meals + tea under $20 if you’d like.
Overall, it’s a pretty good place for a quiet evening bite.

I ordered the Small Unagi Don Set (grilled eel over rice).
My friends chose the salmon and beef teriyaki set.
The set that we ordered include organic green salad and miso soup.
If you don’t like the flavor of wasabi, for the salad, you may check if it’s possible to remove it as I had no idea there was wasabi until I tasted it. & look at how large the salad bowl was… there was avocado too (first picture)
Can I also just say that the MISO SOUP so flavourful~ I was too shy to ask if it’s refillable but dang I swear it great. It definitely DOES NOT taste anything like packet miso, the tofu are in visable bite size!
After tasting the different sets, I definitely & highly recommend the unagi set!! It is extremely tasty, perfectly cooked, and melts in your mouth.
I had hot tea, the tea was aromatic & refillable.
My friends ordered beer, which was smooth & refreshing.
Great experience & absolutely worthy of a return visit~
