But wow this place reminded me why real cafés are worth it.
The waiter was super friendly, extremely professional, and fast. I was able to place my order within about 5 minutes, and my food came out within another 5 minutes after that. Seriously impressive service quick, efficient, and on point.
I ordered French toast with two over-easy eggs, and it was absolutely phenomenal. Everything tasted fresh, hot, and made with care.
This place feels like a small, family-run café, and you can tell they take pride in what they do. Great food, great service, and great atmosphere.
10/10 experience. I would 100% recommend The Depot Cafe to anyone looking for a delicious breakfast and fast service in Jamestown. I’ll definitely be coming back next time I’m in town!
Just about everyone who entered, the servers knew them by name and what they were going to order.
(Us, being strangers, waited a while to be seated and served)
Prices for a basic breakfast a little higher than expected (ex two eggs, two pieces of toast, a protein, hash browns and coffee would run you 20 bucks)
But all in all a pleasant experience.
Our waitress (who I didn’t catch her name, but said she’s been there since 1985) was very attentive and friendly.
Solid atmosphere if you like trains without being overwhelming, and while they keep to the theme they aren’t 110% about it.
Menu was a solid hit of Americana, 3-egg omelets and biscuits and gravy and country fried steaks.
I had the Philly Cheese Steak omelet while my wife and daughter had Denvers.
$5 for hash browns/American fries seems a bit steep but you get a decent portion for the money and they come cooked to perfection.
I’m used to my breakfast gravy having more pepper but after our experience at another restaurant in Jamestown I suspect that my spice tolerance is higher than most of the town, and it’s always easier to add spice to taste at the table.
Excellent coffee.
Service was professional without being detached- regulars and newcomers were welcomed and treated with skill and personality.
I regret missing German night, but I’ll have to remember that for a future trip.
We waited in line for 20 min and saw them seat a table of 6 and a table of 2 that came in behind us. They sat them first even though they were in line behind us because they knew the people. If you aren’t local, I wouldn’t bother trying to eat here. Our money spends just as well somewhere else.
