Stopped into The Depot Cafe for breakfast while I’m out in Jamestown, ND for work, and I have to say I was delightfully surprised. I haven’t been to an actual sit-down café in a long time because most places feel like more of a “family restaurant” vibe, and I usually just grab fast food since it’s quick and easy.
But wow this place reminded me why real cafés are worth it.
The waiter was super friendly, extremely professional, and fast. I was able to place my order within about 5 minutes, and my food came out within another 5 minutes after that. Seriously impressive service quick, efficient, and on point.
I ordered French toast with two over-easy eggs, and it was absolutely phenomenal. Everything tasted fresh, hot, and made with care.
This place feels like a small, family-run café, and you can tell they take pride in what they do. Great food, great service, and great atmosphere.
10/10 experience. I would 100% recommend The Depot Cafe to anyone looking for a delicious breakfast and fast service in Jamestown. I’ll definitely be coming back next time I’m in town!

Seems to be a “locals favorite”.
Just about everyone who entered, the servers knew them by name and what they were going to order.
(Us, being strangers, waited a while to be seated and served)
Prices for a basic breakfast a little higher than expected (ex two eggs, two pieces of toast, a protein, hash browns and coffee would run you 20 bucks)
But all in all a pleasant experience.
Our waitress (who I didn’t catch her name, but said she’s been there since 1985) was very attentive and friendly.

After discovering Depot Ramen just yesterday, my husband and I had to stop by and give it a try. The breakfast Cafe ends at 1pm. I’ve always enjoyed the breakfast and the ramen was great as well. They start serving at 2pm until 7pm currently. The noodles were firm, the broth was savory, and the pork was tender. We both left very satisfied. I chose the tonkatsu and my husband had the red depot (spicy tonkatsu).

Just passing through back to Saskatchewan and made a quick stop for pancakes for the kids. The best cafe we have ever been to. The food was amazing, the atmosphere and the servers. A huge shout out to the one older server who made our little girl feel comfortable with her injury on her head that she got staying at a hotel on a waterside on our little vacation. She gave her a hug and showed our little girl her scar on her forehead and shared her story making her feel not so alone. What a coincidence. We appreciate the service and empathy from the people at that cafe, that gave more than the actual people and hockey player involved and caused the injury themselves. Thank you ladies for making our experience one to remember !

Breakfast before departing back to Minnesota.

Solid atmosphere if you like trains without being overwhelming, and while they keep to the theme they aren’t 110% about it.

Menu was a solid hit of Americana, 3-egg omelets and biscuits and gravy and country fried steaks.

I had the Philly Cheese Steak omelet while my wife and daughter had Denvers.

$5 for hash browns/American fries seems a bit steep but you get a decent portion for the money and they come cooked to perfection.

I’m used to my breakfast gravy having more pepper but after our experience at another restaurant in Jamestown I suspect that my spice tolerance is higher than most of the town, and it’s always easier to add spice to taste at the table.

Excellent coffee.

Service was professional without being detached- regulars and newcomers were welcomed and treated with skill and personality.

I regret missing German night, but I’ll have to remember that for a future trip.

We’ve been going there for breakfast for years and were thrilled to hear that they were going to be doing ramen in the evenings. The ramen is phenomenal, I keep meaning to try out one of the other dishes but I love the broth so much! Definitely worth trying out!

We were traveling through and chose here to eat breakfast. It definitely seemed like a local favorite and it ended up being very good. Our waitress was very sweet. Definitely stop in if you’re traveling through or have never eaten here.

I had the All-American Burger with fries. Great burger. Bonnie served us—she’s been here for 40 years. Good prices. No frills. Excellent burger.

Don’t bother if you’re not a local.
We waited in line for 20 min and saw them seat a table of 6 and a table of 2 that came in behind us. They sat them first even though they were in line behind us because they knew the people. If you aren’t local, I wouldn’t bother trying to eat here. Our money spends just as well somewhere else.

The breakfast was amazing. Large plate full, fresh and hot. Chicken fried steak breakfast and french toast strawberry cheesecake was amazing. Our server Renee was wonderful and pleasant. We’re from Colorado, this restaurant beats Ihop and village inn by far where we’re from.. Thank you so much.
