Finally got around to trying the Chicago style grill this past early January and was rather uneventful.
I love trying different Chicago style grills which many turn out to be pretty close when it comes to the taste of the food but BIG Jack’s compared to other competitors to date lands at the very bottom.
Typically when I try a Chicago style grill for the very first time, I always go for a gyros if it’s on the menu but the one I had tasted rather bland like it was microwaved which is how my wife described it after snagging a piece.
Chili cheese fries were ok, wife’s beef vegetable soup was ok, they were out of chicken tenders so “oh well” for my boys who had plain hotdogs instead. Canned & bottled beverages only, no refillable fountain drinks.
Dining room is a bit small & cozy but kept clean and customer service seemed alright. Sadly after this one-time visit, wife said let’s not come back.
When it comes to Chicago style grub, the competition in the RL area is fierce; Lily’s, Sammie’s, Scotty’s, even O’Lando’s can compete.
Well I certainly hope for the very best for the owner(s) and that their business stays afloat. I hate seeing businesses in Google search mysteriously become labeled as Permanently Closed so I wish for continued boomin’ business for years to come.

Excellent Chicago style dogs & Maxwell street polish sausages I can’t wait to go back and try the mozzarella beef & jardonire next visit because I’ve heard they are really really good.

Great beef but the place needs an overhaul..one side is restaurant and the other side is gaming. Unfortunately you have to go outside of the restaurant to get to the bathrooms in the gaming side. You can see from one side to the other thru the kitchen but they make you go outside and completely around the building to get to the gaming side..

Dry beef from the freezer, the roll was fine especially the little bit that had juice in it. Relatively low on the scale of beeves I’ve reviewed, and at almost $10 for a plain Italian Beef online.
$7 fries that while seem hand-cut just don’t have anything special. I essentially paid $3 extra for some green onion, but NO PARMASEAN at all…. which was the whole point of the fries. The fries were fine but I’d just get a regular over priced $4 fry.
Have passed by tons of times, but won’t be coming back to try anything else.

Today’s food was not worth the price. Unfortunately, we ordered bland nacho fries with over cooked, dried out fries, lettuce, a little shredded cheese and a four pieces of tomato. Melted cheese would of been nice. The chicken Parmesan sandwich had two little dried out chicken tenders, a little mozzarella, sauce. I’m very disappointed. Normally the food is good.

Yasss! I found my new favorite hot dog joint outside the city of Chicago here in the Northern ‘burbs… Big Jack’s is where it’s at!! My hot dogs were made to perfection, the Italian beef was made thoroughly and was not rubbery which is so important! Also the place was clean and cute… decorated completely in a Chicago based theme it’s very inviting. I came back & told my family about of Jack’s, so we’re gonna come back for dinner very son! On the next visit I’m going to try all of the flavors of Italian ice, the burgers and the Chicago cheesesteak. I’m quite sure it’ll all be the tasty!! I recommend !!
