Vecino Mexican restaurant in Midtown Detroit is a beautiful spot. The decor is honestly stunning it really reminded me of somewhere I would’ve seen in Polanco or Mexico City. It has that upscale, thoughtfully designed vibe that makes the whole experience feel special.
The fish was very flavorful and cooked perfectly. The tostada was nicely done and well seasoned with great balance. I also tried the hibiscus agua fresca, which was super refreshing, and the blood orange agua fresca was excellent you can really taste a good amount of ginger in it, which gave it a nice kick.
For dessert, the tres leches cake with coconut was very good. The toasted coconut added depth and texture that made it stand out.
Overall, the food was very good. It does take a little time for everything to come out, but it’s definitely worth the wait. I would absolutely go back.

I came here on a recommendation from a colleague and Vecino did not disappoint!
Everything was incredibly flavorful, fresh, vibrant, and a taste explosion!
I based my ordering off the recommendations of my server, Alexa, who guided my meal from start to finish. This is something I love to do when eating at a new place in a new city for the first time!
Highly recommend the octopus, the short rib sopes, and the duck enchiladas. Alexa recommended the salsa trio which should not be missed.
Vecino is allergen conscious and respectfull of dietary restrictions.
10/10 would highly recommend and I can’t wait to return to Detroit!

My second time coming here and it was just as spectacular as the first! I had to order all the same things as the first time because they were thaaaat delicious and memorable and they lived up to my expectations againnnnn (duck enchiladas, pumpkin seed dip, snapper, salsas, homemade chips and tortillas just so good). The drinks are fantastic as well. Vibes are cozy upscale. The service is friendly and informative. This might very well be my new fav spot in Detroit. Very well done all around!

Couldn’t say anything bad about this place even if I wanted to. From the vibes to the food, simple amazing. Ordered the octopus as an appetizer, the steak and fish with beans. Everything cooked perfectly. I’m definitely ordering the fish again. And the paloma was a delicious drink. I recommend making a reservation because I made a reservation right when they opened. By the time I left, it was packed. But I’m definitely going back.

Magnificent mole was the standout of a fantastic date night dinner! Cocktails were expertly prepared with several unique options. Highly recommend getting extra fresh masa tortillas with your dinner. The salsa trio included the delicious macha version. Definitely a splurge for special occasions, but worth it to try new dishes you won’t get elsewhere!

My dinner party was not impressed. The food didn’t live up to the hype and the portion sizes for the price did not match. We ordered the highly recommended guacamole and the texture was too thin, overwhelmed with lime. Drinks were lacking alcohol but looked pretty. Service was good, however once the restaurant filled up we felt rushed. Menu font was too small to read with the dark atmosphere, our server seemed annoyed when we asked questions. The best item we had was the whole snapper. The tres leches cake was ok but you must like coconut. Would I return? Probably not; we spent $100 each for underwhelming Mexican food.

Guacamole was very fresh and the homemade tortilla chips were very good. Duck enchiladas were not what I expected, not to much flavor so I would not order them again . We got the red snapper and it was good. A little overpowering with the sauces maybe only the salsa verde would be enough. The cherry on top was the tres leches coconut cake. Definitely 10/10.

Supreme dining experience in metro Detroit area! Detailed to perfection, be it the interior, staffing or the star of the night “food”, everything about this place is sublime. Very polite and sweet staff. Their food will take you on journey to different flavors in your mouth. All dishes are shareable. Drinks were great and so was the dessert! This is the kinda establishment you want to keep coming back to, hope they keep up the good work.
