We enjoyed a good New Year’s Eve meal here. The menu is limited but has good choices. Several soups, salads and starters. Good dessert menu.

Service was good, not great. The food was excellent. French onion soup was tasty and not too salty. Cranberry bread pudding was good but lacked cranberry.

Our family enjoyed celebrating Thanksgiving Day at Glen Prairie! The atmosphere – beautiful festive decor, friendly staff, great service, and delicious food was excellent! The ribs were so tender and savory. And the brownie sundae dessert was just perfect My compliments to the Chef!

We came here with my wife’s parents for mother’s Day dinner, and we had a great time. Our waitress was Edna and she was great! Due to a Celiac allergy, we felt comfortable with Edna ‘s knowledge of what was safe to eat and her recommendations were spot on, and we had some awesome food and a great time celebrating mother’s Day. We highly recommend this place.

The short- The appetizers were good, the entrees’ flavor and temperature was inconsistent, and the service was awful.
The long- While the server said she would give us space, before we ordered, it was very difficult to flag her down because she didn’t come by anymore. After ordering, I would have thought she would have checked on us more frequently. This would have been especially helpful after we received our meals and my daughter’s food was cold. It never happened. Our party of 6 had a 20% gratuity added automatically at the end. The percentage is not an issue, but there was zero notification on the menu, or by the server, of such a fee (as I have seen in many other restaurants). The server debated with us about this being the standard and had the nerve later to say it is an Illinois standard. This is patently false in regards to party size and percentage (it varies by location). We asked to see a manager and the server came back saying they weren’t around and must be on break. Upon her return from removing the applied fee, she loudly apologized that we were not happy with the service (the loudest she spoke all night) and said she informed the manager of all of our concerns and the manager would be available by the reception desk upon departure. Not only was the manager not there, but I am curious why the manager wouldn’t come by and check on us personally. Was the server being truthful? With lackluster service, and food that was hit or miss, I would think twice about returning. I definitely cannot recommend Glen Prairie to others.

We went there on Valentine’s Day. I was looking forward to the Beef Bourguignon on special that day. Nope. They ran out. NBD. I ordered the Roasted Free Range Chicken. The size was more like the size of a free range sparrow. I mentioned that to our server and she indicated that the kitchen was doing the best they can. Huh? I often take home a third to a half of what is served. I finished all of it including the smallest side of mashed potatoes I ever had. It was a huge challenge to pace myself to finish at the same time as my Fiancee AND she took some of her meal home. The server did not have a manager come to speak with us either to maybe just provide info or an apology. The food was tasty, but my serving was ridiculously small.

I always love the wide array of gluten-free options at Glen Prairie! Everything was delicious as usual.

We’ve enjoyed many meals here over the years and have experienced the turn over in staff. We most enjoy and appreciate the gluten-free options. Almost everything is available as GF (but they will add a GF surcharge).
The short ribs, fish and chips, and salmon are fabulous. The Mac-and-cheese was good when I had it many months ago, but could use more sauce…maybe that’s changed.

Absolutely fabulous experience at Glen Prairie tonight. The restaurant is beautiful and the food is devine. If you’re gluten free and even if you’re not, this restaurant is an absolute must.
We had Chloe as our server and she was very attentive and professional, couldn’t have asked for better! Can’t wait to come back!

We love the food at Glen Prairie!
When they say locally sourced, we have seen the chef Danny at the farmers markets!!
We typically dine on week nights and have had Edna as our server, what a great waitress! When I have many questions on sauces and gf ingredients Edna patiently answers no matter how crowded or busy she gets!

As a GF person I am not in the crowd that wishes they would bring back the bread baskets, no one needs ‘free’ bread before a big meal, no one! IMO!

A nice restaurant paired with a dated Crowne Plaza hotel. Cranberry margarita and short rib were excellent. Didn’t seem very busy, which may be my showing up at 5pm, but the hotel may be part of the issue. Definitely worth looking past the hotel and giving the restaurant a shot.
