This place is for the real foodies — aka, you are not here to dress up, get semi-wasted, mingle, take cute pics, like seemingly most restaurants out here…. Although you can do that too, I guess.
You are here to sit your pretty self down, have a margarita, and enjoy the food, in a mindful way
Whether you want a quick cocktail & shareable apps to yap with some friends, or have a full course dinner for date night, this place is great for all those reasons. Even for a first date…. The food itself will be a great ice breaker (if you have good taste, that is). It gets busy, but no loud music playing
– Star of the show = ceviche!!! Peruvian style with the corn nuts. The coconut cream goes great with the zestiness. A must-order here.
– Then the ribeye carne asada with the chimichurri… perfect consistency the chimichurri, not too runny. Meat was charred to perfection. Pickled veggies that come with it are great! I think this would have been good with some polenta on the side to level out all the zesty, but I’m low-carb anyways so no personal complaints about that.
– Karaage was mid. Could go without it. Not v crispy.
– WIDE selection of tequila and mezcal! Wish I took a pic.
Not trying to be dramatic, but probably the best restaurant I’ve been to in Phoenix metro area… so far. I shall be back.

Obsessed with this place!! Went last week with a friend, and we absolutely loved everything about it! Our server made excellent suggestions, and we thoroughly enjoyed each plate of food! We started with the white bean purée and short rib ( a must!) loved the elote and Tlayuda ( still dreaming of this!) but you must save them for dessert because the banana bread dessert is otherworldly! Also, I had one of my favorite white wines here, which was a Tempranillo Blanco! We couldn’t believe how reasonable this incredible meal was when we got our bill! A perfect experience from Start to finish! This will be my first stop when I go back to Scottsdale!

Finally made it to Vecina and wow, the food did not disappoint. I had the Happy Hour Margarita and the Skirt Steak Tacos, both were absolute standouts. The margarita was crisp and refreshing, and the tacos? Chef’s kiss. Perfectly seasoned steak, bold flavors, and a beautiful presentation that made it feel like more than just happy hour bites.
The atmosphere was stylish but relaxed, and the service kept pace with the vibe, friendly and attentive without being overbearing.
Only reason it’s not a full five stars? Just saving that for my next visit when I dive deeper into the menu. If the rest is anything like those tacos, I’ll be upgrading soon.

James Fox is a visionary. The dishes that we had aren’t on their normal menu, but the flavor to spice ratios were perfect. From the iberico pork taco to braised short rib… everything was prepared with a lot of thought and great execution. Their in drink menu is off the hook. I will be back when they’re open on a normal night to try his regular menu. We were there for a closed door event led be Chef Fox, so the price point I listed is higher than a normal evening.

A wonderful night on the patio, Anna our server was great with suggestions, talking about what is unique about each dish. We ended up splitting the empanada(out of this world), the tostada and something else I can’t remember, all fantastic!! Definitely a place to enjoy fresh and tasty food.

This restaurant was one of the most impressive I’ve been to in AZ. The chef elevates flavor on a level I’ve rarely experienced. The drinks were fantastic. The papas verdes was excellent. I didn’t know potatoes could be made to taste that good. The karaage (a Japanese style of fried chicken) was fantastic and I preferred the flavor to what I’ve eaten in Japan! The salmon tacos were delectable. I was so impressed with the drinks, apps, and main that I ordered the banana bread dessert and I don’t like banana bread! The dessert with the peanut butter mousse was fantastic. Will definitely add this to our favorite places.

Overall, the food was pretty good. The empanada was just okay, but the other dishes were quite flavorful and interesting. The short ribs in the white bean puree was particularly noteworthy (the puree was basically hummus, but the meat was delicious).
The spicy margarita was mediocre – too much straight up SWEET which overshadowed the subtleties of the other flavors. They have some interesting and unusual red wines which we really liked.
The chairs are not particularly comfortable, and our waitress (shoulder length blonde hair) was unsettlingly bubbly. Not in a “wow she sure is cheerful” sorta way, but like “wow, this is a complete charade, she’s not actually attempting to connect with me, and I wonder what her actual speaking voice sounds like” sorta way. A very disconcerting social interaction.

It is honestly a toss up of what we enjoyed more…the delicious/creative food or our experience with Blake and friends. From the moment we arrived and were welcomed at the bar (by Blake’s roommate no less!) and introduced to the food experience, it was a delight! Blake made great suggestions off the menu and paced the shared plates at a leisurely pace so that we could relax and thoroughly enjoy the delicious flavors! Certainly the fried banana bread and peanut butter mousse is not to be skipped! Thank you for a fabulous night…until next time!! ❤️

Vecina is hands down my favorite restaurant in Phoenix, and honestly, it sets the bar for dining in the Valley. Every single visit feels like a treat. The food is consistently outstanding, creative, and packed with flavor. The cocktails are just as impressive. Beautifully crafted and always perfectly balanced.

This place did NOT disappoint. First off, the wait staff was INCREDIBLE. They were so passionate about the food, so knowledgeable and so helpful. It felt like a fine dining experience but with a casual vibe and better portion sizes!
Ok the food: also incredible. I don’t know what they did to the guac but it was the best guac I’ve ever had! We also really enjoyed the broccoli small plate, but the hamachi ceviche stole the show. It was made in a coconut milk sauce that literally made me want to lick the plate. Finally, the Tlayuda (carnitas tostada) was also amazing. Seriously some of the most well-balanced carnitas I’ve ever had.
