This is a family owned business and the daughters (who are such sweet servers/handle the register) both bilingual, so it’s very accessible to English only speakers like me.
There is a buffet ($13 per person) every day for lunch – my husband tried it and said it was great. There seems to be 2 soups, 3-4 meats, and a table with fixins and sauces. He typically gets the meat soups (the sopa de res) but I get the pozole EVERY time…I even got it for my birthday today! It’s that good! The portions for the food and soup are large, you will have enough for a second meal, easily.
They make almost everything there (including the ice cream and juices!) except for some obvious branded frozen treats and the chips/snacks on the side. And the watermelon agua fresca is my absolute favorite – it is so refreshing and minimally processed. I cannot recommend it enough! Also, they usually have local breads, breakfast pastries, and donuts for sale as well. I got them the previous time and they were delicious and soft.
The restaurant is always clean, including the bathrooms. Only bathroom issue is there is a step up into the toilets so if you need wheelchair accessibility or are elderly, it may be an issue.
They accept all major credit cards and you pay at the register. Parking is easy, the area is “rougher”, but there’s nothing nearby. It’s a well lit parking area and there’s never been anything I’ve seen to be worried about. Clientele are all nice and keep the atmosphere good even with children around.
I hope they continue to do well because I ask my
Husband for the watermelon juice at least once a week lol
