I used to eat at Rutledge Hamburgers about 10 years ago, and on my recent visit back to the Valley, I had to stop by again. I’m happy to say the burgers still taste just as amazing as I remember! Juicy, flavorful, and perfectly satisfying. Pairing it with a Mexican Coke makes the experience even better. It’s great to see a classic spot stay true to its delicious roots.

What a unique stop! You can reach your arms from wall-to-wall and the tables attached to the walls keep your ordering in check but the friendliness and deliciousness makes for a great experience!

Rutledge Burgers in Brownsville, Texas is a true hometown classic. Operating since the 1920s, this little burger shop has kept its charm by keeping things simple—and delicious. The menu is straightforward, the kind you appreciate when all you really want is a good homestyle burger without the fuss.
The flavors are exactly what you hope for from a place with this much history: fresh, comforting, and cooked the way a classic burger should be. The prices are impressively affordable, especially considering how much you get. Their combos are a standout deal, coming with chips, a drink, and even a dessert, which adds a nostalgic touch you don’t see often anymore.
If you’re in Brownsville and craving an honest, no-nonsense burger that hits the spot, Rutledge is the place. It’s simple, tasty, and feels like stepping back into a piece of local history.

This is a small place (15) seats available. The burgers were delicious and it came with chips, soft drink and even a hostess cupcake or a gansito. We had two burgers and it was less than $16. The burgers are small so i recommend a double meat. Great service!

Small spot, small burgers, big flavor. You will definitely want to order two burgers, but you won’t be mad about it. The restaurant itself is literally a hallway with tables on each side. Seats probably 20 people at the most. The service is fast, but friendly. Worth a stop if you’re in Brownsville.

Good spot for classic fast food style burgers. Regular single burger starts at only $2.50 and 2x meat, 2x cheese, 2x ham is $4.75. Burgers are small, but flavor is fantastic at a price that can’t be beat.
Beverage and side options are canned sodas, Gatorade, and chips, with gansitos as a dessert choice.
Location is very small with only small tables for two and short stools.
Definitely worth trying if you are in the area, but don’t come here expecting much more than a homey burger joint with some good history.
